KBS vs. BCBS: Which is easier to get?

For me, in my area (LI, NY) - BCBS gets more bottles distributed than KBS - KBS has lists you have to be on and usually has a 2-bottle limit

 

I was able to get three 4-packs each of BCBS, BCBCS, BCBBW plus two VR. Never found a single bottle of KBS. The only two I've ever had were trade extras.

 

"I think" this is the deal with BCBS - if goose island is distributed by AB distributer you get "enough", if it is by a miller distributer you get crap. Not sure if this is true everywhere but it is in my county. Miller distributes (probably because of old contracts) and we get very very little.

I also live 10 minutes from Founders and without getting the tickets for the KBS release it is still a treasure hunt and hassle. You can get 4-8 but usually takes effort. Luckily got ticket this year but several people at my office got shut out and they were on right when the tickets went on sale.

 

I waited in line to get BCBS this past release. I walked into a store and picked up a bottle of KBS last year, and it was a couple of days after the release.

That's just my experience of course.

 

I'm in Lancaster, and all of the stores I frequent were out within an hour of release. I see people posting shelves full of BCBS, and it blows my mind.

 

i had a super easy time getting kbs... i asked in march shop put my name on a list i showed up when i had time and got it quite easy.

 

Yep, sucks. I didn't even bother this year, just set up a couple of pre-release trades for bottles I had on hand. Was much easier than truck chasing for a couple of stray, over priced bottles.

 

I waited in line for about 45 mins, and only managed to get 2 bottles of BCBS and a pour of both BCBS and Barley Wine.

 

As we're seeing I think it varies depending on region/distribution. I thought it was easier to get BCBS in Boston last year, but there seems to be far more KBS this year. BCBCS and Vanilla were near impossible to get this year...far easier to get KBS.

 

In Southern Vermont I never even saw BCBS. The local 7-11 had KBS.

 

They're both a pain. I want them both distro'd here....to my home.

 

In all fairness, I should try it again. But that ain't happening either. Along with KBS

 

BCBS is still on shelves by me which I am thankful for...because IMO, BCBS is far superior to KBS.

 

Generally I think it is easier to get BCBS than KBS... I'm still seeing BCBS sitting around in a few places, whereas KBS always has a list and sells out very quickly.
If you are talking about the BCBS Variants, then KBS is easier to get. I still have only been able to get a handful of variants over all these years, whereas KBS I can usually get on the list.

 

Very interesting/funny answers when you compare distribution and other factors. I live in Knoxville, which is on the trend upward to catch up with the craft community. My wife stopped in the biggest store we have for craft selection on her lunch break to buy me an anniversary present. This was on a Thursday. She asked how long they had it and they said a couple days. She saw mulitiple cases of KBS behind the counter. She asked if she could have some. They said sure. 1, 4 pack limit. I went back that night and bought another one. My buddy went the next day and bought his 4 pack. The next day we took off for our anniversary and stopped for a beer downtown. Walked into a small liquor store downtown and he had about a case sitting out on display. I asked if that's all he had left, and he said, "no we got tons in the back."

So, roll back the clock to last November when BCBS came out. Only 2 stores got it in town, and it was a 2 bottle limit at both stores. It was gone in less than a couple hours. We didn't get any of the variants here. I told a buddy about them having it and they were sold out 30 minutes after I left.

still have plenty of BCBS in stores in NYC

 

I have heard NY is a gold Mine for BCBS and varieties. as far back as 2012 still on shelves
