-----"if you haven't had it. I'd say its like having had Double Sunshine, Heady Topper, Bodhi, TH Green, and then finally getting around to Pliny. If that makes any sense."------

    Well said.

In a pint glass? Shame on you! Just kidding...how many did you pour in there? Unless that's a magic pint glass, that bottle still looks mostly full :grimacing:

I thought it was only cool to hate on sam adams. We're doing KBS now too?

I'm looking forward to snagging a few bottles myself. I have one left from last years batch and I'm going to try to set aside one or two from this years batch to age as well. We'll see how that goes...tough not to crack them open when they're that good!

It was before I invested in proper glassware lol. You are correct, that was pour #2. I drank 3 that day, saved 1.

Founders really has great craftsmanship across their entire line. Some like to criticize the Backstage Series ("oh, I'm an armchair beer critic and this or that beer isn't as epic as CBS..) but truly, for the size of Founders, they make ridiculously good beer, and KBS is the flagship. Love it. Love Founders. Love (my home state) Michigan. (Flint water crisis not withstanding...)

Not really a fan of this beer fresh, pretty boozy. It does age nicely though, coffee and chocolate really come out. Looking forward to opening one for the Super Bowl tomorrow.

Lol. Give me a break with this snobbery.

Looking forward to being able to snag a 4 pack this year in CA! Terrific beer

It has not a damn thing to do with hate but it simply didn't live to the hype to my taste buds and that is all that matters to me. A very good beer just not great and worth hunting for or standing in lines for. Sure I'll get some since I have a great source. Besides when did given an honest opinion become hate?

My first trade involved landing a four pack of KBS. Ended up being severely disappointed. It's the only vintage of KBS I have had so I won't be hesitant to buy some locally now that founders distributes to SoCal. However, I am not keeping my hopes high at all. We shall see!

Got my first bottle of KBS ('15) in December and just opened it last night. It was very good. Lots of chocolate like Breakfast. But, it wasn't head and shoulders above some other quality BA coffee stouts like Parabajava. Still hope I can find some KBS '16 here in NorCal.

I love Kbs, but it's a hard get here, most places are a One bottle limit. I like Kbs about equal to Bcbcs, they're just different.

Hey @stratusjeans, totally agree with Northwest sentiment.

Moving here (PNW) from the Midwest, I was disappointed to hear Founders, Bells, Priaire, and a few others are extremely rare around here. But IMO, there are options on par with KBS that are available in the NW.

Yes Founders KBS, CBS, and regular Breakfest Stout are excellent, but I don't miss the whole rat race to snag a couple bottles on release day.

Fair point. I took your short comment to be more snarky than it really was. My bad!

I drank my last 2011 KBS last night and really enjoyed it with 5 years on it. With that said, I definitely prefer my KBS fresh and always struggle with the hate people have for this beer. It's not KBBS or anything but it's a damn solid beer. My only problem this year is tickets for the bottle release go on sale this Thursday at 11am and I'm taking the kiddos to Disney on Ice that day and it starts at the same time. Here's to hoping for strong cell service inside the arena!

    Cheers!
