Ok, I am bitter that I couldn't get any Founders KBS this year, but sweet Jesus last years is drinking delicious right now. It is like drinking chocolate milk made with truffles and bourbon... I just got a little too excited and may have messed my pants.

These are so easy to trade for though. I got 3 coming in a couple of different trades.

I think the flavor of this years has already fallen of from where it was. When I drank it fresh on tap at kbs day it was pretty much the best beer i've ever had. nothing could compare. it's crazy how much a beer can change in less than a month.

I go with 6. Find a buddy who scored some, bring a bottle of Bourbon County over, and split the two.... reminiscing about the good ole days (while intermittently cycling through your first four options).

I had a bottle last week, and it was kind of boozy at first, then i let it decant for a half hour and it was spot on. Im picking up 2 that were saved for me today, and I cant wait to let them sit for a while. or drink them now, whatever im feeling.

back to the OP - I didnt even really get last years batch until May (a graduation gift along with a bottle of Hopslam), then again in November at a bar for $15 a bottle. So its around if youre willing to pay for it.

just a quick question on the flavor of kbs? would u say its better fresh, slightly aged(a few months), or let it go for a yr? I've had it only fresh and its absolutely mind blowing and can't see it getting better

I have two 2010 in storage, and three from this year, and I drank one of those. It's as good as ever, and IMO the best Bourbon Stout I've had to date. Founders IMO is ridiculous with these special releases, volumes so low they split to a one bottle limit at 9-10 bucks per.

Winston Salems First Ave Draught House. How a bar managed to get a case when a big volume retailer like Bestway only got a two cases is amazing. I'd walk there for 5 bucks a bottle, and I'd drink more and cellar less. I'm afraid to drink them they're so hard to come by.

I just kind of got lucky with all of mine. Most places around here got just one or 2 cases, and they went in like 15 mins. none lasted more than an hour.

Same here, they never hit the floor, if you weren't on the top of a call list you got shut out. They were all gone within an hour no doubt in my mind.

I prefer mine with a few months on it but if it blew your mind fresh then by all means drink all/most of yours fresh and enjoy this awesome brew. Im saving mine for early fall

Dude, you can't blame Founders for what your store marks up their beer. I got mine at $19 a 4pk at the release. That's Founder's price, complain to your store if you don't like THEIR price...
Next year they are going to triple their output of KBS. Will there still be complaints? Probably...

I understand a bar marking up the price, and I was willing to pay it or get shut out, that was my choice. I was complaining about the limited availability making this kinda scenario so acute..

From what I understand, though I might be wrong, their hands were actually tied by beer brewing laws according to the size of the brewery. Since they have expanded, they are now allowed to brew more and that's why they are going to triple their output of KBS next year. They have done nothing wrong from what I can see. Anyone?

That's actually not that bad of an idea! Do I get a discount because it's "Mine"?

Ill give you a discount because you sparked my idea.

But not on KBS, see the zing there?
