Stopping in KC for a couple of days, anything worth checking out? What can I get there that I can't in MSP?

Swing by Lukas Liquor in Overland Park. They can guide ya to what they have vs MN. Without doing any checking, I would imagine Prairie would be the better of your choices.

Hey fellow MSP-er. Check out Bier Station if you get the chance. It's about 15-20 out of your way, but it's worth the visit.

Lukas at 119 and metcalf in OP will be your closest good stop. Like others have said, bier station is great. Look for bottles from Martin City Brewing and Crane brewing. Both local breweries with some great beers!

You won't be far from the actual Martin City brewery/pizza and taproom. I suggest a visit if you have time. Awesome pizzas, awesome beers and across the street at their pub is usually a nice guest tap list.

I say the same thing on every KC post. Go over to Missouri and get a bottle of 2nd Shift Katy. They have Perennial, Four Hands and Urban Chestnut as well. Second the Crane and Martin City recommendations.

If you can't travel far, have a beer or two at one of the 2 Barley's Brewhouse locations.

I visit OP & Lenexa frequently for work..I normally go to Barleys. Burg and Barrel sometimes has cool stuff on tap (and their burgers are pretty good).

Crane, Perennial & Urban Chestnut are the only ones that I would consider must tries. Bier Station & Belfry know how to serve beer, many others pretending. I would avoid Martin City brewing, they are very dated & out of touch.

Reviving this thread since I'm in KC for a few days. What are the better bottle shops on the Missouri side of KC? Looks like they have better distro than KS. I'm on the KS side (Great Wolf Lodge) but I have a car and will be doing stuff with the family on the MO side over the next few days. Looking for Perennial, 4 Hands, 2nd Shift and anything else good that I can't get in Iowa.

I was just down for the Big 12 tournament, Lukas Liquors in Overland park is genourmous. Didn't see any Perenial on the shelf, but could have missed it. Stopped by the Hy-vee in Liberty just off 35, they had Tweak and Mephistophleles on the shelf that I didn't see at Lukas.

There's a Lukas Liquors on the MO side...it's actually only a few blocks from Martin City Brewery. Not sure what the guy was talking about with them being out of date....they brew some really good stuff. I haven't been to their guest tap spot, but I always make it a point to go to their tap house. Like another poster said above, good pizza and some tasty beers.

I'll be taking a couple of my favorite Martin City brews to share at DLD since I don't have a cellar full of whalezbro.

If you like Brett, the Martin City Shunned House is worth checking out.
