I'm getting married this summer in Maine and get to supply all the booze. I'm thinking two - 1/6 barrels (an IPA and a smaller ale around 5-6%) and a 1/4 barrel (crowd pleasing lager or pils) will allow for a good variety and keep everyone's glass full.

I'm going to be looking into the following beers and would love feedback from New England BAs on where to potentially purchase them. If you've seen recent price lists, I'd love to know what these different beers are getting right now. I live in Boston and will be traveling up 95 past Portland up to Augusta then over to Bar Harbor and could stop any spot along the way.

Bissell Brothers - Is Bier Cellar in Portland the only place to track down The Substance in a keg?

Maine Beer Company - Are 1/6 barrels available any where at retail? I'd love to get Lunch and could put in an order well ahead of time if needed, but Zoe or Peeper would also be good options too.

Wormtown Be Hoppy - Is this widely available in the Boston area or would I need to look to Metrowest?

Jack's Abby - I know the store near my house can get these on pretty short notice, but does any one have pricing information for 1/6 or 1/4 Hoponious, Mass Rising, or Sunny Ridge Pils?

Suggestions - I'd also love any thoughts on a good local pilsner to offer. I was thinking of BBC Czech Pils, but would be open to other suggestions.

Thanks in advance for any tips.

Bier Cellar is the only place that I've seen Substance/Bucolia kegs offered. There was a waitlist when I inquired. The other places that get cans may be able to order it, though. I'd guess that Lunch is going to be really tough to score.

Redstone Liquors (Stoneham) can order Be Hoppy kegs, they can probably hook you up with the JA stuff too.

If you want to go all N.E. craft, Newburyport's Plum Island Belgian Wit seems to be really popular with my friends who don't normally drink craft.

I've seen Be Hoppy 1/2 barrels for $150 at Mass Liquors in Worcester, also seen 1/6 barrels at State Liquors in Worcester for $80. It may actually be easier to get that beer by the keg than in the can.

Thanks for the pointers. I'll give boer cellar a call on the Maine beers.

CBC Remain in the Light is a great local pils though I don't know much about CBC keg availability. Peak Organic Fresh Cut is a pretty tasty pils as well and gets pretty wide distro locally.

Oooo - remain in light would be a great option. I'll have to look into if cbc releases kegs to retail.
