I am brand new to the keg world. Liquor stores claim they can special order kegs from a long list, but not a single person can provide a list. Is there a way to find out what kegs can be ordered, through my travels I have been to a ton of places and would like to bring in something new.

How do other people order kegs that are not the common ones?

Distributors bring in new product all the time. It would be impossible to create a list that Is up to date.

Just out of curiosity, where are you located and what kegs are you interested in ordering?

If by "something new" and "not the common ones" you mean you want to order and buy kegged beers from breweries that don't distribute, either through local wholesale distributors or self-distributing breweries, in your local area, that's not going to be possible in almost all cases. In most states, retailers can only sell beer that has been purchased from licensed in-state distributors or, where legal, from self-distributing in-state breweries.

liquor stores can and do special order kegs but the list changes literally every week. best bet is to find a local liquor store that specializes in craft kegs and establish a relationship with them. At the store I worked at, it would have been easy to do that--by your second or third sixtel we would have all known you by name...

when you call the first time, have a list of 5-6 beers you would like. if you're in , say, Virginia don't expect to find kegs from a small brewer in, say, Wisconsin you bought all the time when you used to live there. If you don't ever see a brewery's canned or bottled beer on the shelves where you live, it's doubtful they have a draft presence in your location, although that certainly isn't always the case.

Don't ask the guy who answers the phone, who is probably ringing out customers, "What beers can you guys get in kegs?"; instead go through the list you thoughtfully prepared before you called.
