So first time poster, been search all over online to see whats been available, what the costs are for your personal home bar keg system. I bought my own OKB commercial keg / tap kit and couldn't be happier... was a simple bolt on set up adjusting pressure from 10-14 psi depending on beer and pour away.. no issues. One thing I do wish now though after having my 1st keg being a 50L keg is that i had a bit of a variety on tap... however far from cost effective... and some places such as perth not offering anything but 50L kegs Now the main reason for this thread... Im trying to see what are all the options and availability for kegs out here.... http://www.perthbrewery.ca/ My #1 choice to date is Perth brewery, By far the most affordable microbrew that sells kegs. they range from around 115+ depending on the brew choice. however their deposit is a little steep at 100$ but not a worry for me. so all in all I paid 125 + 100 for deposit for the 121 lager 50L keg http://broadheadbeer.com/ My 2nd choice was going to be Broadhead However their keg prices are extremely steep when comparing to Perth... 19L - $90, 30L - $138, 58.6L - $265 (plus deposit) which was $20-30 http://www.beaus.ca/ Not the biggest fan of Beau's however some of their brews are tasty! this was for their lug tread pale ale... ofcourse prices do vary... 20L Keg (Approx. 60 Beers) • $102.01* 30L Keg (Approx. 90 Beers) • $147.89* 50L Keg (Approx. 140 Beers) • $239.30* * Price does not include keg deposit. Deposits are due on each keg, and are as follows: 20L - $20.00, 30L - $20.00 , 50L - $30 http://www.kbeer.ca/ Kichesippi beer was another place I came across but havent tried them yet. 20L of Natural Blonde and 1855 (amber) = $127.48 with tax and deposit 20L of Seasonal = $133.00 with tax and deposit 50L of Natural Blonde and 1855 (amber) = $261.65 with tax and deposit 50L of Seasonal = $278.60 with tax and deposit http://www.casselbrewery.ca/en/index.asp Casslebrew is another beer favorite of mine.. well some of them however again pricing steered me away. I only checked online for these and so far this is whats only listed as far as what they offer in KEGS. however they do sell growlers but not in my interest. Golden Rail Honey Brown Ale - 30L Keg 148$ (HST included) Weekend deposit : 20$ Long term deposit : 150$ If any of you have any others to add feel free! all ears on what you have to say if you dealt with any other company or know of any other company that offers kegs for personal use! Keeping in mind that this is within the Ottawa area.. I know of a couple other breweries but just a little far from the ottawa area Simple yet great! hard to be ice cold beer on tap at a great price!
you've got it pretty much solved if you want quality, kich and broadhead are your best options if you want cheap, then perth is right up your alley
sounds good! I do enjoy the Perth brewery selection but some of the broadhead and other beers are hard to beat no doubt (mind you I never tried kich yet!) I also find I am not as stingy when people come down and help themselves vs paying top dollar for a keg. I have a small "piggy bank" on top of the fridge in hopes people drop change in there when they help themselves some do some don't... For now im shooting for quantity over quality to some extent.. something affordable I can enjoyably drink(key point there), give out and not stress out about how much im spending. The main goal for me was to save $$ over needing to buy expensive name brand beers. I already figured im saving roughly 48cents per beer bottle. comparing to a avg priced case of 33$ (bud, canadian ect) Saving around 60-70+ bucks per keg, though I still have to make or buy a bottling wand and capper so I can bottle some beers to lug around with me I would LOVE to start brewing... I just don't have the time or set up right now.. I just bought a house in November and has literally been reaping me of any buck I try to save to put else where. (typical right) I am hoping down the road i'll have a nice home brew set up going when im more suited for it... but thats going to be some time down the road. as I do want to have a selection of beers on tap.... gets expensive VERY fast... regardless this post isnt a complete loss if there isnt any other competitive pricing compared to the perth brewery as its a good list to refer to for anyone looking
