So we typically do all our brewing at my buddy's place. He however is down the shore for the summer and I don't have access to the chest freezers there. What I do have at home is a danby kegerator that I just kicked my last keg of homebrew in. I grabbed a temp controller from his place (the kind you plug into) - would there be any issue using that with the kegerator to hit fermentation temp? Overriding the built in thermostat control shouldn't be a problem, right?

I don't see any reason why a kegerator wouldn't work. One of the other brewers in my club uses one.

Only thing I'd recommend is clean that puppy out good with a bleach based spray and if you need to remove your airlock to take samples or add hops I suggest taking the carboy out of the kegerator to do so. I say this because I've had 2 batches out of 40 get infected and they were the only ones I fermented in my Danby kegerator. It was pretty dirty from years of use and I did remove the airlock several times while the carboy was inside of it.

Thanks all. I figured, just needed someone to blame when it went wrong :stuck_out_tongue:

Good point koopa. If there are some bugs in there, they'll enjoy the sudden warmer weather.
