I've finally got my distributor set up to my regulator. I'm looking at a big tangle of gas and beer lines in my fridge. It's only 3 kegs and I wonder if there's a way to tidy everything up. The 5# CO2 tank and the reuglators are all in the fridge too. They sit in the back of the fridge and the kegs sit up front, since the kegs get swaped out more often. No drilling done yet. I generally wind my beer lines around the respective kegs and hang the party taps from the top of the keg in som fashion. The distributor is just kind on hanging out in the back. My biggest concern is that I don't want to damage the reuglators, distributors, or accidently turn on/off a valve. Any ideas/pictures here would be amazing.
I also come across this same issue periodically and have yet to devise a clever way to solve it, that is, on the budget.
I suggest building yourself a keezer. Relatively inexpensive and a fairly painless operation. http://m.youtube.com/#/watch?v=zHWy_Vlw3J4&desktop_uri=/watch?v=zHWy_Vlw3J4
Mine started out nice and clean, but got as messy as my ponytail within a few months. I think it's evidence of the Flying Spaghetti Monster and his noodly appendages.
There isn't much you can do short of getting a building a keezer which would provide more room as mentioned above. Moving the gas tank outside of the kegerator would help but you'd still have individual gas lines going to each keg. Personally I just live with it and every now and then have to move the kegs around to somewhat untangle the lines.
My keezer is pretty much a tangle of gas lines, beer lines, and distributors. I find it doesn't bother me nearly as much as when it was new. With multiple lines between 4 and 12 feet long, they all have to go somewhere.
I actually thought it looked kind of sexy when it was new, but I soon tired of it, so I simply bundled all the lines together using plastic wire ties. Eight lines (four gas and four liquid) that split off from the bundle at each keg. Cleaned up real nice and it's actually less of a struggle when I change kegs this way. Less stress on the connections, too (less chance of creating a leak by moving things around too aggressively). I've also toyed with the idea of attaching the bundle to the lid so the lines are pulled out of the way when I open it. FWIW, my regulators are outside the keezer in the closet with the CO2 tank with multiple gas lines entering through the collar. I drilled the holes at sharp horizontal angles so they enter the box nearly flush with the collar - very clean this way.
I have my CO2 outside of my fridgerator. I drilled a hole through for my gas line and that connects to a juntion box with 4 gas valves where I run lines to my kegs. I gained extra space in my fridgerator by building a shelf that sits on top of the motor hump. I can store cans of beer under the shelf.
are you using a standard stand-up refrigerator? If so, it sounds sort of like my 1st set-up. You could try to zip tie the gas lines to an insert rack so they hang just above the keg. If you can hang the distributor on the side with easy on/off access, it may clean it up some. I've got a keezer w/collar and got things nice & tidy now. My beer lines run through handles like you would find on a screen door until they meet the gas lines at the distributor and then I'm guessing it looks similar to hartigans with the duo bundled together. I've got three extra gas lines for various purposes as well for hi pressure & low pressure tasks and those all hang from the side of my collar.
I did the same thing for my motor hump. <--- I like the technical term used here, BTW. I think with my fridge the weight of the shelf buckles and I can't move the drawers. I'll have to check into this.
