I'm working on getting a kegerator built for homebrew right now. I'm thinking of having a 'guest tap' on occasionally. I know some breweries offer on-location keg sales, and I just found online that Laurelwood will actually fill a customer's corny keg. Anybody have any recommendations for some quality beer sold in kegs direct from the brewery? Particularly interested in other breweries that might be filling corny kegs, but any info is appreciated.

    Thanks!

OK, so I kept researching after I posed the question, and have been able to come up with the following list of breweries that will fill corny kegs:

    Upright - $50
    Laurelwood - $53
    Max's Fanno Creek - $53
    Hopworks - $58
    Lucky Labrador - $75
    Double Mountain -

Migration also fills customer corny kegs for $50 - I have their IPA on tap now.

I wish Laurelwood would still fill kegs with Workhorse - those were the days!

Prior to the Migration, I had the single hop IPA from Hopworks. Most places only fill corny kegs from their regular beer lineup, so it was cool that Hopworks was willing to fill up with a seasonal / one off.

I understand that Lompoc will also fill corny kegs but I haven't tried them yet. Same with Boneyard - almost worth a drive to Bend if you can get RPM on tap.

Happy hunting! Please report back your results.

Hey guys. I'm trying to put together a somewhat comprehensive list of places to get a keg in portland. I've got most of the places mentioned above on there but it's still a work in progress. I've tried to indicate all breweries that fill corny kegs. If you have any breweries or other locations you'd like to see up there let me know. I'm trying to keep it just to portland area for now so places like Mainbrew out in Hillsboro for now i'm going to leave off.

For places which will fill a Corny, do they transfer carbonated beer into the keg with a jumper, or does the beer come to you flat and you need to carbonate it at home as you would your homebrew?

All of the breweries I've gotten corny kegs from have filled it with a jumper fully carbed.

The one exception was Burnside. With the brewer looking over her shoulder the bartender filled my corny keg straight from the tap. I objected but the brewer assured me it would be fine.

Of course the beer was oxidized and nasty in about 2 days. Wasn't even that good to begin with. /rant

I've had same experience. Breweries always fill it with a jumper so it's fully carbonated.
