He played a wine snob on TV, now he can play a beer snob in real life.

Perhaps he adopts the mindset "don't get high on your own supply".

Pretty cool, but Faith American Brewing Co.? Is he sure he shouldn't open that brewery in the Bible Belt instead?

Borscht Belt Brewing Co. would be better, featuring Jackie Mason Jar Pale Ale and Buddy Hackett Hatchet Job Red IPA. I don't like the name Faith American Brewing Co.

I did check the map, and his location isn't really accessible to the old 'borscht belt ' resort area of the Catskills. Maybe he'll have an offshoot near Monticello; then you can pitch your ideas

There is a fairly popular brewery in NEPA that is owned by a casual friend of my fathers. I do believe he is also the brewer. He does not drink. So while I'm sure it's the extreme minority, it's not completely unheard of.

I had the same thought. I think he's had multiple rehab stints for booze and other things. Surprised he can even own the brewery as I thought there were regulations prohibiting people with dwis and so forth from being involved in the alcohol industry.

I'm sorry I didn't read the article, but even if he's a recovering alcoholic it doesn't necessarily mean that because he's opening a brewery he'll be directly near and around the actual beer at all or ever. It's not as if he's going to be at the brewery sampling the beers for quality assurance. But maybe I'm wrong and the guy is about to relapse in the biggest of ways .... But like I said I didn't read the article because the link didn't work, I'm just making a general point. Still seems contradictory I'll admit

That's funny because on Cheers, although pretentious, he still drank beer with the schlubs like Norm and Cliff, yet on Frasier he turned into the ultimate wine snob who wouldn't be caught dead at a bar like Cheers.

Ok, I'm going on the defensive for Kelsey on this one. This man may have had a successful acting career, but behind his smile holds a lifetime of Personal Pain. First, his father was shot and killed in front of him and his mother. Second his younger sister was Brutally Raped and Murdered. Then one of his personal friends and his wife were aboard Flight 11 when they hit the Twin Towers on 9-11. If this isn't a cause for Alcoholism I don't know what is.

i grew up that way. That part of the Catskills is the deep South of NY. With little pockets of progressiveness.

An owner not drinking is one thing, but I don't understand how a brewer can do his job without drinking. It's like a blind man driving.

You say that like it's a bad thing. I grew up in Massachusetts around tons of liberals in an area with little pockets of conservatives. I'd make a point on how all this relates to beer but ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

What does personal politics have to do with opening a brewery again?

EDIT: Unless it's in response to 'why open in NY? this place should be in the bible belt'. If that's the case then please disregard

"Corkmaster's Choice": a blend of ales aged in Merlot (55%) and Cabernet Sauvignon (45%) barrels.

Or maybe that should be "Call Me a Cab."
