My wife and I want to make a day trip up to Kenosha from the Chi Burbs. She wants to spend time at the outlet mall and I want to drink/buy great WI beers. A few questions: Best local bottle shops? Best local restaurants? Looking for a combo of good food and beer list (please note we'll have a baby with us). Any other general recommendations to go with my wife and kid while we're up there? Thanks in advance.
Visited Chicago last year and made the same drive to Kenosha. Went to Tenutas and Woodmans, between those 2 you should find all the beer you want. Only food I had was meatball sub from Tenutas, drove straight back to Chicago after picking up beer.
Tenuta's is your place for bottle shop, great small Italian Deli. They have outdoor grills where they sell brats, italian, polish sausages and hot dogs. But the seating isn't the greatest. As far as beers, they carry Black Husky (get a bottle of the Pale Ale), Toppling Goliath, as well as numerous Wisconsin Beers. The beer manager, Kyle, is a great guy who will take great care of getting whatever you need. As far as food, there are a few Mike's locations you can look into, one of them is on the Interstate (Uncle Mike's) just north of Highway 50, they have upwards of 80 beers on tap. They also have a Mike's Chicken and Doughnuts, which is located downtown Kenosha, they tap list is not as robust. Here is there website for all there locations http://mikelikesbeer.com/. I am not sure how favorable the seating is for a baby, some of there seating is barstools with tables, but they do have outdoor seating that you could eat at. Edit: I will say while Woodmans does have large beer area, you will not see Toppling Goliath and Black Husky.
While the "Mike's" locations have great food and beer lists, they are not very kid friendly. As previously mentioned most seating is either bar stools or high top tables.
There's a new place called Milwaukee burger company. You might want to swing by and see what they have on tap. They have had cassian sunset for a while. They have some awesome cheese curds too, more like cheese bricks.
Woodman's in Kenosha is a large liquor store inside a grocery store. they have a debit and cash only policy.
