Broken Throne in Pikeville is closing:

    Broken Throne Army:
It is with a heavy heart that we announce the closing of our beloved brewery after nearly 6 wonderful years of serving this incredible community. From the bottom of our hearts, we want to express our deepest gratitude for your unwavering support and countless memories shared within our walls.
This and next week, we will be open at the taproom from Thursday - Saturday (5pm -10pm) or until our remaining food and beer is sold out. This period will not only allow us to reduce our inventory but also give us the opportunity to celebrate and reminisce about the good times we’ve had together.
While this decision was incredibly difficult, it comes after careful consideration of many factors. Our journey has been filled with amazing experiences, but like many small businesses, we have faced challenges that have led us to this point. Rather than focus on those obstacles, we want to cherish the positive moments and the incredible community that has made our brewery a special place.
Thank you for being part of our story. We invite you to join us in these final days to enjoy your favorite beers, savor our delicious food, and create a few more lasting memories. Your support and patronage have meant the world to us, and we are eternally grateful for every single one of you.
    With heartfelt appreciation,
    - The owners and management of Broken Throne Brewing

Did anyone go to Craft Bash in Louisville yesterday? Was a great time as usual!

Had great brews all day long but this imperial stout from Fabled was my favorite:

Want to stop at Fabled sometime, but I drove back to Columbus early so they weren't open yet. Will have to plan better next time!

Pivot Brewing in Lexington is looking for a new owner/brewer, per a FB post:

Some big changes are in store for Pivot!
We had a great response to our plan for community and employee ownership through crowdfunding, and that would have been a wonderful structure for Pivot. However, a few of us are moving on from the business, which is creating a hole in our management and production team that doesn’t fit with the crowdfunding model. We are therefore opening up the opportunity for a new owner and brewing team to take the reins of Pivot through a sale.
Thank you for supporting us over the years, and we are excited to see what a new team can offer you in the future!
You can find information about the sale here: https://www.pivotbrewingcompany.com/sale-info/

Is anyone here part of the Friends of Butchertown Brewing membership? I thought about joining since they allow proxies and one of my buddies lives kinda close to there and goes there at least once a month. Just wanted to see what other people thought before I signed up for it.

I am. It's a perfect membership for people who don't live in Louisville (like me). Your membership fee goes entirely to bottles and swag. Four member releases per year, and each release you get the option of buying 1-2 more bottles at member price (currently 10 less than public price). I'm currently proxying for a trade partner in Iowa who snatched up a membership after I sent him a bottle from last year. You also get a hat/shirt for free, and if there are other special releases during the year, members get first dibs (2023 had the HORUS collab offered this way).

More of the releases will be collabs as time progresses. Personally, I'm excited for next year, because that's when the Revolution barleywine collab should be ready.

I'm doing the Kentucky bourbon trail over the next few days, with stops in Bardstown today and around the Louisville area starting tomorrow. What's the best dark lager (Czech dark, schwarzbier, etc.) available on shelves or in taprooms at the moment? Doesn't need to be locally brewed; I'm just looking for something I can find without too much of a detour. Cheers!

I've looked online, didn't see anything of note at Scout & Scholar or Atrium. Monnik might have something that interests you. https://www.monnikbeer.com/beers

I'm totally the wrong person to be asking about lagers, lol.

You might find the Monnik Schwarzbier or their Dark Rice Lager in cans, from what the whispers say

Holy Grale and Bardstown Liquors are good bets for a dark lager on draft or on the shelf
