Im going to be driving from South Carolina to Illinois in a few days. Depending on what kinda time I make, I will be stopping for one night in either Lexington or Louisville. So, my question is, if you could only go to one or at most two places in Lex or Louisville, what would they be? Lookin for a place with a good atmosphere, nice tap selection, local stuff, and maybe a good sandwich. It will be a tues night so crowds shouldnt be an issue. I realize there is beerfly for this sort of thing, but I really just want to hear what that one must visit place is, because thats all Im really going to have time for. Thanks for your help, I appreciate it. Ryan
Holy Grale in Louisville. In my opinion it is one of the best Gastropubs i have ever been too. Wonderful food as well. Also if you are looking to pick up some bottles to take home from your trip, check out Louisville beer store or any of the Liquor Barns. The liquor barns are cheaper but they run out of there limited stuff pretty fast, Louisville beer store seems to always have something limited. I went there in December and everywhere else in Louisville didn't have any BCBS, except them. Louisville is an underrated beer town IMO, you will definitely have some fun. Cheers, Julius
I second the Holy Grale. Im there just about every Tuesday, but there is also a crowd. The food is great and the tap selection is outstanding. They also have a pretty decent bottle list. You will love the place.
While things are grooving in Lexington and you could stop at Country Boy (great list overall, theirs and guest list) and West Sixth, food won't be available unless you order in from somewhere else.
I'll be in town Friday thru Sunday. If anybody wants to grab a beer would love to meet some ba's. Just bm me
A place I have enjoyed many times in Louisville is Sergio's World Beers. The food menu is VERY limited, but he has over 1000 beers (mostly bottles, but probably 40 on tap) in stock. Check it out: http://sergiosworldbeers.com/
