It was not what I was expecting, but I liked it.

I've only had this beer when in Lexington, where it is brewed. I enjoyed it and didn't taste any corn. From looking at the reviews and comments here I suspect that this is a beer that a) doesn't travel well, and b) doesn't fit what many folks expect in a Bourbon Barrel matured beer. For me its one I enjoy once in a while but it’s a beer for sipping rather than drinking. But its also a style of beer that is not one of the most more popular one among BAs.

I wasn't a big fan, haven't pulled the trigger on the stout yet, my confidence is not high

While not exactly in the same quality level, I'd still group Kentucky Bourbon Barrel together with New Holland Dragon's Milk: mass-produced barrel-aged stouts that are fine for what they are, but more what I'd call "entry level".

I just had one last night after not having one for quite some time (at least a couple years). 'Lagery' indeed.

Barrel reuse would make a lot of sense given the very faint detection of the barrel. I remember that being much more prominent last time.

Not that great, and certainly doesn't match the price (or likely the effort put in by the brewery).

The draft is OK, but mostly barrel. I don't think the base beer is that good. I tried their BBA barleywine from a local growler store over the weekend. It was a bit harsh with what seemed to me some fusel alcohol. Once again not a good base beer.

I think I would prefer Coors to Kentucky Bourbon Barrel Ale.

It's a very popular draft beer around here. I've never had it in a bottle, just draft. Coors with a splash of bourbon is a very good description. Its probably the last beer at the bar I would accept, BMC included.

If you see a sixer of this, be skeptical. They're only sold in 4-packs.

That being said, this was the beer that got me drinking beer again. However, the taste varies greatly from batch to batch (despite the brewery saying you can't tell the difference), and now that there are more choices, I don't choose this one anymore.

Their barleywine is pretty good, but other than that, I haven't had anything from this brewery that I really liked. Funny how my taste buds have changed, because a few years ago I loved the bourbon barrel ale, as well as the stout. Lately it just doesn't have as much flavor as I remembered

I've only ever had it on tap, so I have nothing to add. Why am I even in this thread?

Probably the most disappointed I've ever been with a bourbon beer and the only one I've ever given a sewer ride.
