I'm not afraid to admit that I'm a KBC virgin, and would love to get my hands on it, specifically in the Seattle area. How has distribution of this treat been the past few years in the area?

Most bottleshops and some grocery stores (Whole Foods, U-Village QFC) got some last year. It sold out really fast, but if you really want it and are willing to be there on Black Friday you should be fine.

KBC? I can speak the acronym game pretty well, but you got me there. I'm assuming you mean Goose Island Bourbon County Brand Stout(BCBS). It sells out almost instantly at most places around town. Typically QFC's are really the only spot you can find it after Black Friday. If you're looking for variants, good luck. It's also possible you mean Founders Kentucky Brunch Stout(KBS), which isnt distributed to WA. Or maybe you mean Toppling Goliath Kentucky Brand Brunch Stout(KBBS), and well, I won't get into that here.

I didn't even notice the Kentucky, ha.

U-Village QFC did manage to get Coffee Bourbon County last year. I think it was a month later.

Oops, yes. meant BCBS. I'm a bourbon guy and so think Kentucky  Thanks for the insight however. I will prepare myself for Black Friday accordingly.

First day on the forum, he's got Brew 1000 as his avatar, and his first post is about BCBS. We are the FIBs.

OP, as mentioned above, as long as you're willing to hustle out on Black Friday, deal with the crowds, the hassle, and the expense, BCBS is relatively easy to get. Don't expect to get any on Black Saturday though. If ya want it, ya get it opening day.

    Welcome aboard!

Or the OP could forget all about the Goose Island/InBev stuff and go out and get a local and better bourbon-barrel-aged imperial stout --- Bourbon Barrel Aged Dark Star from Fremont. Still plentiful around town. No lines, no crowds, no hassle with only a little expense. Problem solved!

Just in case there is any confusion --- B-bomb and BBADS are different beers.

last year about a week after Black Friday, I walked into a popular beer store in B-ham and bought 24 BCBS, but the 2013's. Not sure if they were sent those, or were keeping them, but they were happy to sell them to me. I don't anticipate that happening again, but the moral of the story is "ask" if they have any in the back. They had 5 cases when I asked!

Yeah, last year the Food Coop but out a case of '13 on Black Friday as a joke. I bought 1 bottle, just to play along. Rest of the case lasted a couple days.

Yeah, I just stuck it on the shelf, and it's gotten rotated to the back. Maybe I'll wait another year or so and throw it in as an extra in a trade. Or drink it sometime. Or let it sit there until I die. There's options, lots of options.

Should be able to confirm which variants are arriving here shortly. Supposed to be more variants this year with the new format. Should receive plenty BCBS and BCBCS, Black Friday release, of course.

Getting back to the original post, isn't it surprising the most frequently named source is QFC, a grocery store? Not a specialty store, just good old QFC. Good on them, and their parent company, Kroger's.
