Kentucky Common VS California Common - Differences?

    Please help me clarify the differences. The best I can discern is that Kentucky Common is often soured and California Common is not. I know that California Common uses a lager yeast. I am unclear whether Kentucky Common uses lager or ale yeast. Does anyone know more about this rare style?

    Kentucky common is similar to a cream ale.

    California common is a steam beer.
