Picked up some JOJO yesterday. Had pretty high expectations given last year's really good Citra batch. The JOJO is good but not great. Definitely has that JO flavor but the alcohol is right upfront on the double version.

Look forward to what's next from KRBC.

I smashed a JoJo last night. It was ok. I never had Citra in its hay day. Hoping it reaches its former self one of these days.

How often does Citra get released?

Next batch of Citra 2020 is right around the corner...March 13. Pre sale is going on now. I'll pass on the pre sale. I'll probably make the road trip this time. Need an excuse to spend the weekend in Kernville. Somebody mentioned that this batch may be the new and improved Citra hops? Anyways, another can release that same weekend...Peakbagger IPA. I believe its Kerns first collaboration with Beachwood Brewing? Not sure if the collab beer will make distro to OC/LA areas.

You have to buy a case of it? It's a good deal, but not interested in buying a case of beer without trying it. Let me know if you want to unload a four pack...

Peak Bagger West Coast IPA ***Collaboration with Beachwood Brewing featuring Mosaic, Simcoe and Ekaunot hops 16 oz Cans, 7.1% ABV - $65/case - Limit 2 cases (24 cans/case). ($13/4-pack procrastinator price)

Being forced to buy a case is a bad decision. Yes I loved the old batches of Citra, but would have been nice to see some smaller sizes available. The collab sounds great as well, but I wouldn't be interested in pre-purchasing a case of it either.

I'm not interested in a case either. No more than two 4pks, depending on how it is. I don't know if this batch will make distro. I think the spring batches are usually smaller than the winter. They will have 4pks to go at the brewery. I'm really interested in the collab ipa with Beachwood.

Hmm, might be in the area for work, but I'll take procrastinator option if I roll up the hill. Case prepurchase is a head scratcher.

Road trip to the southern Sierra’s to hit up one of my favorite breweries in 2 weeks for (fingers crossed) Citra DIPA. This batch “promises” to be better than the last batch brewed back in November 2019. This batch will be brewed with the newest grown Citra hops. I noticed a few breweries have been using this new and improved Citra hops. They’ll also be releasing their first collab with Beachwood Peak Bagger IPA. Any who I need a holiday weekend up in the Sierra’s. I had to cancel my trip to the UK and Korea because of Corona.

Did Kern River make that promise? I tried that last batch and found it pretty lame. Would give it another shot it it promises to be better, and them essentially admitting November batch wasn’t great. It seemed like the secret ingredient was a bar of soap.

I thought the last batch was good. A lot better than the previous 2-3 years. It wasn’t og great. I think those here would agree. Except a few. I guess we will see in a couple of weeks. I’m not only going on this road trip for Citra. But to get away from all my travels to different countries, and the city of Angels. I need some quiet time. :no_mouth:

I'm definitely in this camp, it was much better than the past few years and I'm hoping the trajectory for this batch is closer to circa 2011.

Hope you get the chance to stop in. Maybe Eric will be there. Looks like they have been putting out some good beer lately. Nothing out of this world or hyped. Just good clean and clear beers. I’m looking forward to a re visit and try some new beers and old ones. Cheers Bud.

Not interested in a case of Citra. Maybe back in the day when Citra was King. These days I will buy two 4pk if the beer is worthy of it. I’m hoping to bring back a bunch of new & old fresh cans from KRBC on this road trip. Curious about the collab with Beachwood.

I don’t think Kern or anybody can make that promise. We’ll just have to wait and see. They do have other beers, old & new I’m looking forward to drinking that weekend. And get some hiking in. So it’ll be a win win weekend. It’s always a great weekend when your not working and your exploring new expectations.

I can tell you that if you can find “fresh” Chuurch! or Double Chuuurch! it’s pretty darn good. Draft or cans. But I don’t think it’s been canned lately. Haven’t had JO lately. But “fresh” JO is always good. JO JO was okay. A little on the malty bitter side for me these days. I see the latest cans of Think Tank #21 is out and it’s a hazy. Probably not a true hazy for most here. I also got Hop Nookie in my fridge. A pretty decent triple. Again “fresh”. Regardless if this new batch of Citra is good or not I am planning to have a great time away from the City.

Definitely agree on Church/Double Church, and I too found JoJo a bit sweet and malt heavy. Not sure its still fresh, but Triple Check was enjoyable, and Side Hike (while no Dirty Hippee) was super solid for my palate and preferences. And I feel Class V doesn't get enough respect, very solid IMHO.
