Need a report on this batch.

 

Much like last citra release, I'd call it very good, not great. As usual, great times at krbc. Best staff in the business. Food always top notch.

Sadly, they still get an F at growler filling. Why is this so difficult? Just noticed my river buddy growler is filled to the level of the bottom of the handle. I get that's where "the line is" (actually my fill was quite a bit below the line) but most breweries understand the need to fill to the very top for preservation purposes. But at $14 a fill I guess that's fine. If you fill a growler at krbc better be prepared to drink very soon. On the positive, they seem to finally be filling non krbc branded growlers.

 

NO Breweries want you to save a growler of beer at all. Stop your bitching.

 

I know I'll be attacked claiming my new money tastes are more geared for ne ipas, but I've had this beer for years and it's a completely different beer.

 

Nah, I agree with you and I'm sure there are many who feel the same. Citra used to be the only thing to order since it was so great, but I don't think any of us ordered more than one yesterday.

 

Citra isn't the same beer anymore and won't be as Kern lost their head brewer to lengthwise brewing so I was told. It's still an enjoyable beer but nowhere close to the og.

 

They did scale up the brewery, it takes a while to dial it in. They have only brewed it twice, it's not like they don't have the recipe.

The hype sure has died down though.

So now that Kern is canning JO, are they still bottling JO?

 

My party did the same when we went for the last release. A single pint of Citra all around, then onto River Buddy, etc...

As long as they keep canning, I'm happy!

They also brewed a new stout and put some in rum barrels.

 

Just picked up a bottle tonight. I am probably going to catch a lot of flack for saying this but I am not a big must have KRBC fanboy. I loved the OG CItra but the last few time's Ive had it it was a shell of the fantastic beer it once was. I saw this and remembered people here saying great things about it. This is the best KRBC beer I've had outside Citra circa 2015 and earlier. I didn't know this was a hazy beer either, but I am an equal opportunity drinker,seriously though,this is super juicy and balanced for the 8+ ABV.
