Going to give this recipe a go when the hops arrive. Has anyone tried it before? Or something similar?

I'm new to all grain, so any comments or suggestions will be appreciated!

Mash for 60 minutes at 148 degrees, no higher than 150. Single infusion. No vorlauf.

Fermentation: 6-8 days in primary. Do not raise temp.

Dry hop 2 days after fermentation is complete. Pull yeast off, then dry hop (go to secondary). All dry hopping done warm at 67 degrees. Each dry hop is 3 days. So if you put in the 1st DH on Monday, the next one goes in 2 days later, the day you put them in counts as a day. They cap off the fermenter after each DH. Crash on 12th day for a couple of days. Dump hops and yeast. Carb and drink.

I brewed it, but used Pearl malt as the base ( like Heady ), and used Conan from Heady.. Figured it would showcase it all well.

Turned out the yeast sucked balls and went all clove and belgian on me, so the beer wasn't as awesome as I wanted. Citra and Amarillo go really well together, and it smelled awesome though.

I did it, pretty much following the CYBI recipe; it's the only time I think I've every used 2-row or 1056, lol. Were I to do it again, I'd probably simplify the grain bill a bit, like by using a pale ale malt and not the 2-row/munich combo. I'd probably also just pick to use one of the carapils/wheat combos. Anyway, I've never had the real deal, but the fricking clone lasted a remarkably short time in my house, given that it's the strongest beer I've ever brewed (my efficiency was a bit high, and my beer was around 9% ABV). That shit was really good. I did compress the dry hop down a bit, and used 2 day gaps instead of 3 day gaps on the additions, and I did it all in the primary. I had a brief cold crash period (2-3 day) before I started the dry hop, just to clean up some of the yeast.

    I'm a Hop Head . . . I like Citra . . . but you really have a boatload of Citra in your recipe, I count 5+ounces.

I'm pretty sure you already know that the computed IBU is largely an academic number . . . your late/DH additions will overwhelm everything (that's a good thing). With that in mind, I normally don't consider 30 min additions, it seems like it adds IBU units only and little taste. Finally, just looked at my Citra and it shows 14.1%AA. Make sure you really know what your alpha level is and if you want that much.

Regarding all grain: It took me a long time to dial in my mash temps. I used calculators but always seemed to miss my temps. If your target is 148 and you end up on the low side you may have a very strong brew. I would put a lot of emphasis on a really good thermometer, lots of stirring, and of course extra boiling water and ice. Also, plan on losing 3 ounces of liquid for each ounce of hops. Good luck.

I made it almost exactly and it was awesome fresh, as it aged it is getting sweeter and sweeter. if I make again might sub in some Maris Otter to grain bill and kill the honey malt since I;m not as much into the sweetness, the Nugget, Citra and Amarillo really nice a triple threat. Conversely I just brewed an IPA with Centennial, Mosaic and Galaxy and to be honest this triple combo did not work all the great. decent beer but almost have flavor confusion going on with it.
