I know that the lottery system might cause some chaos but I'm surprised at some of the complaints/negativity in this thread. I wish that I lived anywhere remotely close to Kern River and had this opportunity.

Right on, did you also burn your mouth from eating pizza before it was cool? :sunglasses:

You do realize you are comparing a Pale ale at 5.5% Abv to a Double IPA at 8.0% Abv.

Yes. Drakes 1500 is a 5.5% pale and I would never call it watery. But I didn't bring up the comparison, just answering his question. My point was it can't serve as a substitution.

I was able to get growlers of the Winter DIPA (5th Anniv) 3 times this last month. The last time I was up there they were out.

I'm very happy that KRBC is switching it up. It shows that they're listening and care about their customers. It may take some time for them to figure out the "perfect" way for it to be released, but I applaud any brewer who's trying to make the process a little less painless.

As for unclaimed bottles from lottery winners who don't show up, I think the solution is relatively easy. Just release those bottles quietly at the brewery for locals to enjoy.

hahaha locals. You mean those lucky lotto winners who are there for the release bumping their 6 bottle limit to more.

I say stick them to the local gas station (did it ever get rebuilt after being burned down?) or the general store that is across the street. I loved finding a shit ton of 5th anniversary just chilling at those spots, with an extra discount with the six bottle holder being brought in.

If they were smart they'd only make citra.

If you've ever seen the size of their brew system (and perhaps you have?) you'd know they're truly 'micro'. I don't think I've seen a smaller setup. It's my understanding that citra takes a long time and ties up the vessels for extended periods of time, making them unable to brew other beers. Hopefully this will change with their impending expansion.

Make only Citra? Does Just Outstanding taste like chopped liver? How about 5th Anniversary?

Every citra release invokes the same circus. I'm just here for the elephants and peanuts.

Forgive my ignorance on how brown paper ticket works, but has the chance to register for this sold out already?
On KRBC's email it says you have from October 4th to the 13th to register for the lottery but when I go on brown paper ticket now it says it is sold out?
