I prefer Lawsons Double Sunshine and TG's Sosus over Kern River Citra. The things people want in return for thier Citra bottles is crazy... I agree with shmeal and DanzBorin. its hyped, but its still good beer. Would I ever trade an arm and a leg to get a bottle? Heck no. Its alot easier for me to get a Double Sunshine and Sosus to boot...

I haven't looked at what people are asking for it as of late, but fair trades, to me, would be other highly rated, limited release DIPAs. Also, to correct the dude above, it's not a regular release unless you count 2 releases per year regular. Not to mention, it's brewery-only. Furthermore KRBC rarely ever makes it down to SoCal anymore. I've seen Just Outstanding once at a bottle shop all year. I'm not trying to justify what people are asking Citra DIPA, just correcting any perception that the shit is easy to get for most people.

Personally, though, if I took the trouble to drive all the way up there, I'd just keep the bottles for myself. The route that seems the most straight-forward from LA is to go up the 5, 99, pass through Bakersfield, then the 178 to Kernville. That may not seem like a hassle but the eastbound 178 is pretty gnarly due to the narrow winding road and frequent rock slides. Some people don't mind driving through such conditions but if you're easily stressed like me, it's not the most pleasant drive. There's not really much in the way of "fair" trades that someone could offer me for the trouble to get there.

These pics show what the road is like.

Think of Citra has having the Heady topper effect, most people who have/trade Heady are not looking for other IPA's since the have access to some of the best out there, same can be said/thought of with people trading Citra.

    My thoughts exactly.
