Kern River open for 6 Years

We're 6 years old!

Sometimes it seems like we just opened our doors yesterday, but the all the grey hair I have accumulated since June of 2006 seems to indicate otherwise. While we were working on getting everything going we got more than our fair share of curious folks who would wander in and see what was going on. Some of them were just looking for free beer or wanted to let us know how crazy we were for trying to open a craft brewery in Kernville. We decided to make a rule, that if you stayed for longer than 5 minutes, you had to pick up a tool and start helping with the construction. Of course that ran a few folks off, but lots of people decided to stay and pitch in. First off a big thanks to those folks (and you know who you are) for helping make this Brewery happen.

The first couple of years were pretty interesting; and by interesting I mean hard. If you are looking to retire, don't ever open a bar or restaurant. Certainly don't open a brewpub. It took us a little while to get the hang of things, but here we are 6 years later and people seem to still like what we are doing. Thanks for coming in, buying our beer wherever it is sold, or just being a fan of KRBC; we appreciate it very much.

Now on with the festivities! On Friday, June 1st, we will be celebrating with libations, food, music and good people. We have an unusual treat for you, a line up of our 4th, 5th and 6th anniversary ales (for those that can't remember, that would be Belgian Pale, Double IPA and Imperial Red respectively. Plus a cask of Class V with Cocoa and Mint. Whatever is left over will run into the weekend, plus we will be putting more casks on as needed. A good time will be had by all, if not, we promise we will try harder next year.

I'll be there. =) (Not purposefully for this - company is going on vacation there for the weekend, and of course I was planning on going to the brewery but I didn't even realize until yesterday that it's their anniversary. Happy coincidence.)

Your beer has many fans in the San Diego area, and the Citra I shared in Portland wowed the group. Wish you were closer! (But Sage will bring some beer back for us, no doubt.) Cheers to your perseverance and success.
