Down for our annual trip to my in laws. Posted ~3 years ago and got some good ideas. But been a while since I asked + we’re doing a 16 day stint so need my beer!

My in laws live on Key Biscayne. What are the current 2-3 best stores / take out beer options that are reasonably close (like 30 min drive or less; sub 20 would be ideal).

And we have a few dinners planned. Design district tonight. Also Wynwood and South Beach on a couple of the other nights. Any bars/places with great beer that are new in the last 1-2 years worth checking out?

Thanks in advance. For context I live right by Other Half in Brooklyn. Love their IPAs. Less of a fan of their pastry sours/stouts but I sometimes enjoy the better examples. Suarez and HF are my fave breweries overall.

Down here also from up North. Stopped by J. Wakefield today, had some pours and picked up some cans one of which was the OH Collab "It's Not Easy Being Green" which was amazing. I know your a big OH guy, so you gotta give that a try. Boxelder also in Wynwood is a must stop. Union Beer Store in Little Havana and Mendez Fuel for Crowler fills (and some 93 Octane Premium) are also good stops if in those neighborhoods. Hopefully someone from down here can chime in and give you better info. Enjoy the Sun (and the beers)!!

Veza Sur opened in 2017, as did Union Beer Store. Those are probably the newest options. Wynwood is the closest and you have J Wakefield and the other breweries, plus Box Eldr in Wyndood. Union Beer Store is in Little Havana so not a lot further. If you have the time to travel further you can go west to the Doral where a lot of spots have opened in recent years. Tripping Animals is my favorite in the area, they opened end of 2018. The Tank opened in 2017, Beat Culture opened this year I think? so a lot of places to check out in Doral. North you've got Invasive Species and Three Sons in Ft Lauderdale area. But for Doral and Ft Lauderdale you are talking probably 90 minutes to 2 hours round trip time from where you are at.

Some of my favorite new places are in Doral, namely Beat Culture, but also Tripping Animals (and MIA, but I don't think they're all that new). Unseen Creatures is definitely on my list to hit, just haven't been over there yet.

I'm not a huge fan of Veza Sur. I've not been a huge fan of their beer the couple times I've been there, and being created (not just owned) by ABI doesn't start them off on the best foot with me either. All the breweries in Wynwood are owned by someone else other than JWB (Veza Sur = ABI, Concrete Beach = Sam Adams, Wynwood Brewing = ABI, via their recent purchase of Craft Beer Alliance).

Nothing particularly revelatory here, but definitely swing by:

    J Wakefield
MIA (not amazing, really, but quintessentially and intentionally Miami through and through)
Funky Buddha (seriously, they're about 20-30 min north of Miami; no reason not to stop there, with great bottle releases on premise, and excellent food)

I guess it depends on what time of day you go, but Funky Buddha is a solid 20 minutes north of the FLL airport, much less Miami. I'd say it'd normally take 40-50 minutes to get there from say Wynwood. It -is- worth going to, but if someone is going that far north, I'd definitely hit 3 Sons and Invasive Species as well (which are both further south in Dania Beach and Flagler Village respectively).

I probably wasn't taking into account traffic; you're right, that can easily double the drive, and I didn't originally notice how far South the OP is staying. FB is about as far South as I typically go now; a trip into Miami itself is something I try to avoid.
