Anyone have any inside information regarding Kickstand Brewing Company that is scheduled to open in the fall in Commerce Twp, MI? They have a Facebook page that I got some brief info from: https://www.facebook.com/KickstandBrewingCompany

From what I make of it, it was started by a couple of homebrewers that are now starting a business. If they brew some good stuff, will be a really nice addition to the area.

Interesting... Is this going where the old Hiller's was located? Kind of strange that they'd open a new brewery about a mile away from CJ's. Hopefully Kickstand's beer is better, though CJ's isn't hard to beat...

Not in the old Hillers, but a smaller space next to the spa. And I agree completely about CJ's.....I really want to like the place because of the location, but I've never had a good pint or a good meal there.

The only reason that I go to CJs is for their cheese bread. That stuff is pretty good and cheap.

As of a couple weeks ago, Heights Brewing decided not to proceed with their plans in Downtown Auburn Hills.

There was a by invitation soft opening last night. We were invited, and went. Food was very good. The beer was of high quality - no defects in the ones I had sampled (session IPA, pale ale, Porter, Amber). All beers were balanced and highly drinkable.

Great to hear! As far as the food is concerned, is it mostly snack food, or a full menu? Also, did they just have the four beers you sampled or a larger list? Very excited to try this place out since its pretty much walking distance from me.

There were more, a blond with Sorachi Ace hops, a Milk Stout, an Amber, maybe a Winter Warmer IIRC.

Food has appetizers including a tasty short rib poutine and a charcuterie plate, sandwiches, shrimp and grits, and so on. Soups and salads. More gastropub fare. Pretty good menu, those are the thing I remember.
