I got extra'd this, and in the wax it says 2009. but the print says Feb 02 11. Is the 2009 printed cork that is in the wax just saying it won an award in 2009, or was the printed date labeled wrong.?

Looks like a mistake, I remember the 2011 bottles having red wax. People correct me if I'm wrong.

one of the sweetest Barley wines I have ever had, seeing that it gets horrible reviews, I would have never sent this as an extra..have you ever had shipyard barleywine?

Seems a little short for a Barley wine but couldn't the date be the best by date?

No, I have multiple 12oz bottles with no wax. I'm not sure the significance of the wax. I guess the wax maybe on the 22oz bottles of this. Not sure. I was tempted to email them

I saw the same thing on later vintages. If memory served me correctly, all the stamps Ive seen (2010 - 2012) are 2 years past the waxed token date. Im assuming its a Best By date.

Well I don't know about that... You can let barleywines age quite well past 2 years
