We really need a database with all of this information.

How many bottles of King Henry were released? Was this available on shelves? What was the price?

Not sure. It was available on shelves. I think around 14.99...not positive though. If I had access to it on the shelves, I would buy at least a case. In love with this beer.

Dont know the batch size. It was released and stocked in stores. Price was anywhere from $10.99-$18.99. Some gouging took place...

Speaking of gouging, I bought a bottle of KH at an Indy establishment for $35. Believe me, it was a tough price to pay. My disgust for a retailer that would charge this price, however, was tempered by my desire to drink another bottle. KH is by far one of the most enjoyable beers I've ever tried. I think it's up there w/ Rare BCBS, so when you compare it to Rare's price...
(just one of a few rationalizations to buy KH @ $35...)

I hear you man. It made me cringe to pay $35 for it, but I did. I know it the only KH in town, but c'mon, a 250% markup? Geeze.

We don't really NEED a database.

The bottle count is less than Rare was. Beyond that, you'll never get an exact number.

BTW--I agree that one single database would be nice. It doesn't need to be fancy. Just a simple spreadsheet like Liviphunk's bad trader list. Of course, someone would have to be the administrator. I'd volunteer, but many of our members are infinitely more informed about bottle count than I.

Unfortunately if you try to submit a change to "notes" on a beer's page it will go unnoticed.

there isnt a database bc many brewers specifically do not release the bottle numbers. im imagining its to avoid the hysteria that people would create over it, most notably in trade forums and second hand sales markets such as ebay.

I don't think Goose Island releases bottle count numbers and I'm not sure how you keep a database of the pricing given that there were so many different prices for the beer.

There was more Rare than King Henry? Interesting...

Well King Henry was aged in used Rare barrels, so it's impossible that there would be more. Figure a couple of barrels might not have been re-usable for whatever reason, and there should be less King Henry.

There were about 12,000 bottles of Rare. Probably a safe assumption that there are somewhere in the 10,000-12,000 range of bottles of King Henry.

IMO...one of the best beers I have tried! KH forced me to change my favorite style to BB barleywine!
