I'll be in kitty hawk from 6/1-6/8. Looking for cool bars, restaurants, breweries, bottle shops... Tria looks like they have a decent tap list. Also if anyone is interested in an ip trade, I can bring a tired hands growler or two on vacation
To Go Growlers: 2 liters (4.2 pints) $20 Refill in Our Bottle $15 From the website, looks like you get a discount if you use their growler? I've yet to go somewhere that didn't fill growlers from other places (as long as the surgeon general warning is present)
As mentioned, Outer Banks Brewing, Chips (also has a location in Moyock which you'll probably pass on the way in) and Trio are great places to stop. Heard folks talk about stopping at Weeping Radish on the way in. You can make the short drive up to Duck to check out Sweet T's. Full Moon in Manteo recently added a small brewing set-up to the restaurant; easiest brewery tour ever. Sat on a bar stool, eating fish and chips (beer battered with in-house beer) while the owner/brewer pointed out the different parts of the set-up. Be advised, that, when we did it last year, it was limited to, like, 10 folks at a time and reservations were recommended (thinking it was $20 per person?).
I think there has to be a label from the brewery in question. However, it can be just a sticker. I have a Foothills label stuck over the logo of another brewery's growler and Foothills fills it when I bring it in. Some places are cool like that. But as of now, only breweries can legally fill growlers with their own beer.
"Trio" is a very nice bar/store/restaurant to visit. They have a very friendly staff and usually have some great beers on tap. Enjoy!
Trio and Chips are about 2 blocks away from each other (around mile marker 5.5ish). Chips has the better selection overall but Trios usually has some of the bottled Outer Banks brews that Chips doesnt...
I would also highly recommend Blue Moon down in Nags Head just past jockeys ridge, nice tap and bottle selection and food is very tasty. http://bluemoonbeachgrill.com/
