Just recently I tried their Simtra triple IPA on tap and it's delicious.

I also got a bottle of their Hoptologist DIPA in my fridge which I'm looking forward to trying.

Have Knee Deep been distributing to NYC for long? I've only seen them around recently.

    Good stuff!

It's been very recent - I'd say a little over a month now. Sarene picked them up, as well as Moylan's kegs just last week. I'm loving how the new kids on the block are picking some Cali gems to build out their portfolio.

NYC just started getting kegs and bombers, although we aren't seeing their entire portfolio. I was told that we are getting their quad ipa (!!!!) Hop deranged and I am looking forward to it!

Be curious as to the freshness of their hoppy bottles. I was in stores in CA that couldn't seem to sell Knee Deep beer that was under 2 months old.

I was in SoCal a couple of weeks ago and saw Simtra on the shelf that was bottled in April. Saw some here Saturday that was bottled July 30th.

There's a few in Greenpoint at Eastern District. I think they have Simtra, Hoptologist dipa and the imperial porter. I got the Simtra, huge beer!

Simtra has been described as a poor man's PtY. Personally, I've never had PtY so I have no idea if that's true or not. If a year-round beer that's not terribly priced (typically $9.99 in Cali, $12.99 here) gets that kind of praise I'm all for it. I do prefer the bottle over draft, though. I may be in the minority on that one...

When we first got it in the city it was less than two weeks old, but that was a while ago

Sarene's IG feed just posted this about an hour ago. I figure this will be a couple weeks old at most.

Personal opinion - not even close but I do really like the Simtra (have had it both bottle and growler fill). Admittedly it's been year's since I've had PtY.

I've seen very fresh bottles in Westchester (September dating).

I've liked all of what I have tried (Simtra, Midnight Hoppyness, Citra IPA, Hoparillo, Hop Shortage, Batch no 138, McCarthy's Bane). The Simtra is the best of the bunch. I thought the Midnight Hoppyness was the second best of them. Hoparillo was probably my least favorite.

Saw bottles of Simtra pop up recently with bottle dates of mid September in NYC and plan on grabbing a bottle on Friday. Until now I've only seen the aforementioned bottles from July and wanted to wait until something fresher started to show up.
