    Here, I'll offer some insight...

First of all, Tennessee has some wonky laws regarding ABV. If a beer is less than 6%, you can find it in most mainstream outlets (grocery stores, gas stations, etc.). If it's over 6%, you have to go to a package/liquor store. As for higher ABV stuff, I can attest to McScrooge's and East End Liquor. McScrooge's is bigger (physically) and cleaner than East End and has a slightly better selection from what I noticed, but I was able to find some unique bottles at each place and the guys at East End seem to be bigger beer geeks since they really wanted to chat about beer. I don't think you're going to be blown away by any of the selection if you're used to NJ distro, but you'll find something worth drinking for sure. I've heard great things about Bearden Beer Market if you're wanting to sit down for a sessionable pint, but I haven't been able to make it there quite yet.

Former and soon to be again knoxvillian reporting here. Beeralmanac is pretty much on the money with his shop recommendations. High abv is always mcscrooge for me, but I never bother to go to east end, as its fairly out of my way most of the time.

I can attest to bearden beer market for lower abv stuff, it's pretty much your best overall option. There's a new liquor store in turkey creek that just opened up (not turkey creek wine and spirits, they're decent), the name eludes me at the moment, but STAY AWAY from it. Place is a ripoff, near longhorn steakhouse.

The casual pint has some stuff that bearden beer might not from time to time, but should be your second choice due to cost and availability. Check out suttree for a good craft beer bar located downtown off gay st.

I am the owner of the new store in Turkey Creek, Corks Wine and Spirits. I am sorry that you found our prices out of line from what you are used to paying. I use standard industry markups for my beer just as I do for wine and spirits. Additionally, I routinely check the other stores in the area to insure that i stay competitive. It is neither my intention nor desire to "rip off" my very valued customers. I would love an opportunity to speak live with you to see specifically where we can be more competitive. If you would like to stop by the store I am here most of the time. I will buy you a six pack of your choosing on me for your input. Respectfully - Ryan McElveen Owner, Corks W&S

    Ryan,

Thanks for offering to speak with me regarding the prices. It very well could be my lens is a bit off since I bounce around so much between Tennessee, Kentucky, Indiana, and Illinois, but there was a bit of sticker shock on my end. I'd be happy to give you my two cents on the subject sometime. I'll be in town this weekend, and my work will see me moving back permanently to Knoxville very soon. I will privately message you to hash out the details.

I'm always willing to give a store a second chance if they are willing to address customer concerns.
