My sister just moved to knoxville and I'll be visiting in a couple weeks. What are the good places to hit up? Is there a can't miss place? Cheers!

I've given longer answers on this in other threads (search Knoxville in the south forum), but short answer is:

Suttree off gay street is the best beer bar
Mcscrooge's and bearden beer market are the best bottle shops (high and low abv respectively)
Downtown grill and brewery is a cheap brewpub with decent beers
Smokey mountain grill and brewery is decent (get the pale ale)
Saw works is a local brewery

How good is Saw Works? I might have a chance to visit Knoxville shortly.

You could skip all the beer places in Knoxville and wouldn't miss a thing. Bring beer with you.

They have a handful of beers and focus primarily on English style versions. They don't really do anything I'm crazy about.

Thanks for the responses. I've been to Knoxville a couple of times since my sister moved there late last year. What is it with tennessee beer laws!?! I've been to smokey mountain brewery, and thought it was just fine. But will definitely check out suttree during my next visit in late June. I really fell in love with Knoxville over the last few months, I just wish Tennessee would make it easier for us beer lovers.
