Spokane has plenty, and it is close enough to Portland:slight_smile:
And as I have professed, Heater Allen is amazing, and Upright and Commons make great pilsners and some other lagers from time to time

    But it's a scenic 350 miles… :stuck_out_tongue:

One could drive through the Yakima Valley (I hear Balebreakers is good) hit up those nice places around Hood River, and then have a fine time in Portland.

Double back north the next day, hit Seattle then head back another scenic 350 miles... only to end up 33 miles from Coeur d'Alene, ID. Again. :grinning:

Just joking, of course. I've only been to Portland, but I hear that Eastern Washington is beautiful country.

Yeah, the invitation is open for everyone whenever they have time to visit Miltenberg. How about Feb/March? It would be great if everyone could bring some homebrew or some "hard to get" commercial beers. Our new Double IPA (Auswanderer) should be ready by then. It's in the secondary tank right now and is tasting amazing.

Being that I live in FFM, I can be there on any weekend at a moment's notice. I had the Auswanderer 2 years ago when I did a brewery tour. They never mentioned an Ami working there, so you must have started some time since then, eh? The Auswanderer reminded me of 3 Floyds Alpha King, simply delicious. Now that there are many other German brewers who produce IPAs, why doesn't Faust brew it full time and market it, especially online? Camba Bavaria, Schönramer, Brau Kunst Keller, Riegele, Rattshernn, CREW Republic, Weiherer, and of course Pax (ok, only one month out of the year) all are producing IPAs year round.

I don't homebrew and anything I could get my hands on would not qualify as "hard to get". Otherwise I'm in! I just need a few weeks notice and some understanding from die Frau. HerrB, when do you plan on being in town?

I've only been here for a year, so that's why they didn't mention me. Shoot me a message if you're considering making a trip down to Miltenberg anytime soon.
I can't speak on behalf of the company when it comes to production strategy, but share your desire for year-round IPAs. Hop forward beers always seem to take a nose dive after about 3 months in the package, no matter how they're stored.

mjtierney2, what part of Germany are you living in? I'm sure there's a nice brewery in your area that doesn't distribute in NW Bayern.

Heidelberg! I would offer to drive to Belgium and pick up some Fantome, but it's a little out-of-the-way.

A meeting at Faust's seems lovely. Only about a 1 and 1/2-hour drive from me.
I can only plan it with a few weeks notice though. Two little kids (the one almost 3 years, the other only 5 days). If it were possible to stay there overnight, I could actually drink some beers and maybe bring my older one.

There are plenty of places to stay in Miltenberg. I can recommend the Hopfengarten. The rooms were nice and the breakfast was stocked with a lot of locally made items.

First of all, we can't do it on the weekend of Feb 21 because that's when BrauKunstLive in München is.

We also can't do it on May 31 - June 1, for that's when the Festival der Bierkulturen in Köln is. I may miss that one, though, for a planned trip to the USA.

Any other days are fine by me.

We ended up leaving our house about an hour later than we wanted. The drive to Koln is about 2 1/2 hours. Throw in another 30 minutes trying to find a place to park and we had a shortened day.

We hit the markets by the cathedral and a couple of others. After two hours of shopping I went to the first brauhaus that I saw which was Sion. I thought that the bier was ok. It probably tasted better as I was no longer shopping with my wife.

I do enjoy the Kolsch style after trying the Sion and a couple of others I brought home. It would be a great summer grilling beer to have outside on a hot day.
