Wiedemann in cans was always a great stand-by beer for me when I lived in Ohio. Although this is a new recipe I'm going to guess that they tried to replicate the old recipe, and I'll forward to looking form this one when I travel back to the Buckeye state to visit family.
My buddy did the design for this... He also does the design for Triple Digit beers. I tried some of the Wiedemann's at cincy brew ha ha a few weeks ago... it was foul. Probably better than the original - tho.
It gets good reviews based on the style. Currently an 81. However, I figure a little homering in there as most are from locals reminiscing. http://beeradvocate.com/beer/profile/30622/88762
haha i remember buying 40's of it at kroger and gas stations around Cincinnati for $1.26 i believe it was before they stopped producing previously. it was a budget beer for sure at that time more than anything.
I have fond memories of Wiedemann's. It was one of the last beers regularly available in returnable longnecks during the late 1980s, and so I still have a collection of the bottles and cases from my homebrewing days.
I remember buying Wiedemann's in the short stubby bottles in college... mid 90's http://www.taverntrove.com/beerpics...-Label-G-Heileman-Brewing-Company_56827-1.jpg Also the new Wiedemann's may be on style... but it's not a style I care for... I wasn't saying it was poorly made just that I didn't like it at all.
