Gold label with gold foil over cap and bourbon barrel sticker is BA Edition.

NO sticker and no gold foil is regular BA4D because they use same label

I have some of the 2011 winter Solstice bottels that I belive to be regular 4D but the lable has the small oval on the left side saying it is barrel aged. But they should also have gold foil over the cap as well. I have both versions. A side note the BB Barley Wine has silver foil the regular has no foil. I will look for my pictures to see if you can see what mine look like.

    No sticker
To clarify: no sticker and foil means it is regular 4D, not BA4D.

Thanks for clarifying...seemed too good to be true just sitting there on the shelves in NYC.

Really? Did they run out of the 4D labels without the "barrel aged" oval? I didn't see any of the most recent regular 4D, but it seems odd they'd have it marked as "barrel aged."

I've drank a few of my "BB4D" bottles and I'm not always convinced that they are "BB"

The Barrel Aged Oval is now incorporated into the main label (you see it on the upper left corner of the 4) . It is no longer a separate neck label.

It looks like the ones in the Pic are all Barrel Aged, one of them is just missing the foil (which comes off very easy)

I believe they ran out of labels and stuck the barrel aged ones on. I ordered 8 regular ones, 3 of them have the Barrel aged lable on them. I know the foil didn't just fall off, but they may have forgot to put the foil on those 3. I will have to settel it this weekend at KBS and open one of those up to find out. I will report back my findings.

I have never seen this beer in stores? Are they only sold at the brewery? I live two hours away from there for Christ sake, you would think it would be everywhere.

It is distributed. However, Kuhnhenn gets very, very limited distro, even here in Michigan. I know of one store near me that still has 4D from 2010, just because they jacked the price up so high. The limited few other places that get it sell out pretty quick.

You are not very familiar with Kuhnhenn are you? Grand Rapids is the closest place to Kalamazoo you will find bottles. Talking to some of the folks at bottle shops up there they never know what or when they are going to get anything from Kuhnhenn for the most part.

The 4D is distributed, but is the BB4D? I thought it was brewery only. Also, Kuhnhenn barely distributes in Michigan, I am surprised they send anything out of state.

BB4D certainly was available outside the brewery. They also sent a rather sizable shipment to NY last year. It may not make sense but I do not question it.

So far this year none of the BB4D has been distributed, at least not in the metro Detroit area. The regular 4D and other Kuhnhenn bottles have started to trickle into a few stores recently.

I honestly can't remember where I heard it but I don't believe there is going to be any BB4D distributed this year.

Put up an ISO. It does trade for good stuff, but it is not overly hard to trade for.
