Anybody opened up a bottle of this vintage recently? I was thinking of drinking my remaining bottle over the holidays. I wanted to know how this one is doing right now and whether I should consider holding onto it for even longer.

I think Knifestyle did a writeup of a full Kuhnhenn BBBW vertical somewhat recently, but I can't seem to find it. I'm just guessing here, but I wouldn't imagine that the 05 is getting any better at this point. It's probably not about to fall off any cliff, but I don't thing that it's transmuting into any sort of life-changing elixir or anything.

Disappeared into the aether after the site had gone down, unfortunately.

Our findings: we did a vertical of 2005, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011 late last year after the Winter Solstice. All were great with the exception of the 2005 which was thoroughly infected....and not even in a good way. We essentially drain-poured the bottle and went right for my last of the 2005. Also infected. 0-2 on that fateful night.

Drink it now, but don't expect much. This beer has always stood out in the Kuhnhenn BBBW canon as it had a lot of qualities that the other vintages don't (super raisin-y with a much thinner body). I don't know if these were just early signs of infection or what, but in retrospect, I could imagine that was likely the case.

    EDIT: Some photos....

What's most notable about these photos is the amount of carbonation in these two particular bottles. Kuhnhenn BBBW has very low levels of carbonation, typically. However, these were the most carbonated bottles of BBBW that I've ever had (and I've had a lot).

Thanks for all the information. Bummer on the infection. Last time I had a bottle was in early 2010 and it seemed fine. Really enjoyed it back then. Looks like it has gone down an ugly path as so many Kuhnhenn bottles before it. I appreciate the feedback.
