Kuhnhenn BBBW - What does it take?

Argh, this beer has become increasingly difficult to land ever since the 2011 release this past December. I used to trade furiously for this, but we've sort of hit a point where people have finally wised up and realized just how amazing of a beer this is....and at $7/bottle it's an absolute steal.

I've traded mostly brewery-only sours (i.e. Ithaca Brute, Captain Lawrence CdC, Southampton Peconic) as most barleywine lovers seem to be pretty attached to their bottles (and rightfully so).

I'm curious about what's been trading for it lately as well....especially for the 2008 & 2009 vintages.

 

Someone has to find it. I'm pretty sure they're out down there..or at least holding it until the summer solstice party. Im keeping an eye out for it.

 

It's been gone at the brewery for a loooooong time now (surprising that it actually lasted as long as it did, though).

You won't see any at the Summer Solstice as it's typically a Winter Solstice release.

 

Ive heard it was available just about a month ago and heard a rumor, mind you a rumor, that they were holding some back for the party. No guarantees on that though, it was just something I read here.

 

A month ago? I dunno about that....BB4D, sure.

Of course, I wouldn't be surprised if they held something back. Wouldn't be the first time they've done that (see "brewery-aged" 2005 and 2008 vintages). I'll certainly cross my fingers in hopes of the possibility...but I also won't be holding my breath.

 

Your right I read it wrong, I was thinking about BB4D...still who knows we will see

 

This beer trades oddly (kind of like this sentence reads). Some offer it up as a $4$ addition and others hold on to it with white knuckles. Many of the beers that get traded on BA fall into a generally accepted scope of how they are valued but not BBBW. I personally love this beer (although the 2011 I just drank two nights ago didn't do it for me) and try to nab it when it is offered. Good luck OP.

Fwiw, I did just make a trade where the BBBW I am receiving was used as a gap closer on $4$.

I got a bottle along with a bottle of BB4D among other things like CBH for an Abyss and a Parabola.

 

I've traded everything from bt 11 to abacus and zhukov for it. Probably my favorite bbbw. Also have to love the 12oz packaging size. In constant search of. Good luck.

I went home from school in Kentucky to Michigan in March for spring break...stopped at the brewery and had a few beers...they did not have BBBW at that point......cant comment on the summer solstice party...i mean they could of had some in the back and were not selling it when I was there, but it was definitely not listed as available for purchase to go

 

it seemed to linger for at least 2-3 weeeks after the party, long aftetr the BB4D had sold out...I am just pissed that I didnt buy more than I did...I did drink 3 of them in one week, so what I had did not last in my house...I believe you are going to need a tent and some ninja skills to get some BBBW at this years' Winter Solstice...

Huh? According to several reports, BB4D lasted up until this past week.

 

It was in jest..sorry if I offend..I personally believe that these events will become more crowded in the near future..prime example is the KBS release... hope I am wrong..because the Solstice was laid back and fun..

Initially after the party, the BB4D was sold out way before the BBBW was...but a few weeks after they sold out of BBBW, they released another batch of BB4D..that batch was the one that recently sold out...

 

If anyone has some to trade, shoot me a message. I'd love to get my hands on some.
