Realized this is a highly rated beer that I haven't seen much trading around. I searched the trades but it's hard to discern the value. Does this go $4$ for normal stuff (Alpine/etc...) or do you need to go limited release? Any help is appreciated.

limited release. bottles are usually released twiceish a year and run $8 per 12oz and limited quantity.

Unfortunately for us (OP) this beer has been harder and harder to get in the past two years. Someone can correct me but this past year the allotment was down to 6 bb4d, although you could get 3 additional 21 month barrel aged bb4d. It would seem the days of "finding cases" in the back and putting them out are a thing or the past.

Recently (past year or two) only released at winter solstice to my knowledge.

eh $8 may or may not be more expensive than what lots of people paid for BCBCS or Black Note. and if it is it's maybe $1 more or so, which really should not be a factor in trades. I do trades at $30 to $25 or $25 to $30 it's just not worth it to haggle over $2 or $3

And maybe 10% of the volume as well - if that....

BBPt5 was 660 cases last year, they probably sold 200 cases of Black Note just out of the general store - who knows how many cases of BCBCS were released, etc...

I doubt there were even 100 cases of BB4D all year but I don't feel like going through the thread to find the amount.

BB4D trades higher than BCBCS and Black Note. quite a few people bought those in large quantity(case or more) at $6 per bottle. the quantity of those two beers is probably thousands more than BB4D and they are cheaper and can both be bought off shelves.

also, what people paid isnt always what the bottle is worth.

i would say BB4D and BBBW are both on a little higher level than BBPT5, BN, BCBCS.

shrug. I have always seen those bottles trade at basically 1:1. I know I traded for mine 1:1 with KBS and then traded my leftovers away at basically the same

This year's release was quite a bit different than last year too. Last year it sold out very quick at the Solstice party, but then a ton became available after. I was able to walk in and buy a case without any trouble a couple weeks after.
This year was 6 per person, they basically sold out the day of the event. From what I've heard (take this with a grain of salt) there was quite a bit less of the regular and BB 4D this year due to issues with some of it. I seriously doubt there will be more available at Summer, but I could be wrong.

BTW - the stuff that was "released" at Summer Solstice was just left over from Winter Solstice. They didn't make additional beer just for summer.

I should have known that, I was there. Man I thought that was 2 summers ago. FWIW I tried 3:2 with me trading BN/BBPT5/BA BLACKOUT without any luck (me giving 3). Also at the winter solstice they mentioned more bb4d/bbbw would be available at the st patty's event which didn't happen. So there's a chance summer could see some.

Wasn't the most recent batch "off". I forget if it was a new vintage or if they aged some of the previous vintage for additional time.

Haven't run across a bad bottle of bbbw, bb4d, or the 21 month aged bb4d myself.

Mix of almanac and alpine sounds awesome to me. Your timing might be the hiccup tho, wait till the next release. Also it is important to note, there some badass traders in MI, throw up an ISO!
