3 medals for Bastone, 2 for Dragonmead, and 1 each for Founders and Kuhnhenn. Not to mention Kuhnhenn's was a Gold for DRIPA in the Am IPA category! Also of note, former MI guy, Matt Brynildson of Firestone Walker taking home Mid Size brewer of the year. Congrats to all!
I don't have enough reviews to add it yet, but I had the pleasure of trying Bastone's Saison Noir yesterday. It was a really pleasant surprise. The dark color of a porter with the malty richness of that style, but with saison's citrus and grains of paradise spiciness. Very complex and enjoyable.
Not to sound like a troll, but does anybody else think Bastone is that good? Every time I've had their beers, they always seemed very plain. I ate there one time, and was not too happy about my meal. I had some kind of chicken dish that was on the bone and hard to eat without picking it up with my hands, which seemed a bit crude. Also, the dish had large pieces of onion that were really chewy. Maybe they've improved over the last few years. Does anybody else have an opinion on them? I guess I'll have to give them another try.
