Anybody know what they released today? I'm thinking about heading over there but would like to know first. I see that its supposed to be 3 black beers. Thanks!
Per their FB page: The Equinox beer releases for today are: *Iron Monger Dunkel: It is a full flavored Munich-styled dark lager. *Penny Black: A black American IPA *Michigan Mud: An Export Stout flavored with cocoa nibs and some incredible Madagascar vanilla beans. From the sick and twisted mind of Todd Schwem .He out did himself with this flavorful beast! *TB3: A banana flavored version of the Michigan Mud. The mead release will be "The Bruiser!" This is a black and blueberry port pyment. This mead is big and bold with loads of dark rich fruit and plenty of port character. Only the mead will be available in bottles.
See I felt the opposite. I guess I prefer a more bitter stout. don't get me wrong, I really liked the banana, I just like the Michigan Mud more. The penny black was kicked before I got there and I had to choose my glasses carefully as I was by myself and had to think about the 45 minute drive home. I guess my biggest surprise were how many people there weren't drinking the new beers. It was nice though. 3 glasses of fantastic stout and got to watch the Michigan game.....although they did lose in epic fashion. God I wish, but at 8.50 a glass I can only imagine how much it would cost. The Creme Brulee Java is like 7.60 and its 28 for a growler.
Those prices were insanely high. I know it was a good size pour but for the 8% alcohol and it not being something barrel aged, was a bit much. Don't get me wrong though, the beers were FANTASTIC. That was my first time visiting there and I was very impressed with all the brews I got to try. I left happy with a growler of DRIPA and I wish I got more!
Yeah kinda high but I guess I don't mind every now and then for a special release. All their beers are fantastic. I was planning on leaving with a Growler of DRIPA too but after a 25 dollar bill and only being a week out from payday moneys tight. Ill have to shoot back down after payday.
Missed out on weekend festivities, but hit them up today around lunch to taste the new stuff. Flight: Fluffer, Mud, Banana, Creme Brulee, DRIPA Good, better, awesome, pretty good, perfection. The hype and awards are deserved for the DRIPA. Was going to get a growler but I had already loaded my jeep up with 32 other singles. I'll grab one next time I'm in the neighbourhood. (Note, I have never tried Kuhnhenn before. But have read and heard the hype. Great 1st time.)
Yeah i figured they would be pretty expensive. But i didn't really want to sit around in the taproom IF it was going to be crowded, so i was going to try and grab a growler and bring it on home to enjoy on Sunday. Will definitely be stopping by in the next day or two to try and get a taste of the new ones. Glad to hear the brews were as exceptional as (I) anticipated.
Yeah they are definitely worth it. Also if you like mead their meads are fantastic as well. Didn't look to see if they had any of the Parliament funkadelish ones left but if they do that are particularly amazing.
