How was the Carmel Coconut? I thought the Mayan Chocolate Stout was incredibly thin.

It was thin. Not really impressed by the Mayan. The Carmel Coconut sounds interesting though.

I didn't get to try it, too many others I wanted to try. It was still on the next day, so it might still be on.

Agreed that the Mayan was a bit thin...and could have used a bit more heat. (And, I am not a big fan of heat...) Curious to try the Coconut, but suspect it will be a while before I catch it on tap again.

I must say, I am still craving that MI Cherry Coffee Stout. Stuff was delicious! The flavors as so vivid in my memory I can still taste them.

Ditto. That coffee cherry was the bomb. My favorite along with cherry saison.

It had this unique balance to the mouth feel, where in the coffee/bitter chocolate gives this initial dryness, then BOOM! cherry juice hits the palate and then swirls into this perfect harmony.

I hope they makes more of this beer....LOTS of it.

The best one other than Solstice Stout IMO!

Hey everyone, we have a staff meeting coming up very soon, and I'd like to relay some of the reviews from users here. Can you please post brief reviews below, regarding service, bottle sales, beer quality, music, any special moments.
I've read some great stuff on here, and just want to share with the rest of the staff - it's a bit difficult to read through 175 posts and try to screenshot stuff.
    Thanks in advance!

I think the Summer Soltice stout is amazing. Im really shocked at the quality of this beer-its delicious and easily made it into my top 5 BA stouts period.

Service- never had a problem walking right up to the bar/taps and ordering what I wanted. Seemed much quicker than the 2013 event. Felt neither crowded nor neglected inside the bar or in the tent.

Bottle Sales- went about as well as expected. The wait wasn't too bad at all. Then again, I lined up a bit early before opening. Not sure what could have been done differently (other than making it cash sales only) to speed up the process. I like the pre-packaged 4-pack idea.

Beer quality- I doubt you will hear many complaints here. Outstanding tap list. Most everything delivered! (I shared a few quick thoughts on some beers a page back)

Music- this is just bonus for me...background music for the party. Although, I thoroughly enjoyed The Jalopy Brothers.

Misc.- I wish the Detroit BBQ guys stayed open a bit later!! About 10pm on Friday night, I had a pretty big appetite and settled for popcorn because no BBQ was to be found! Felt like they stayed open later in years past...but maybe I just ate earlier.....

More Misc.- BRING BACK MI CHERRY COFFEE STOUT SOON....AND OFTEN!! (please)

Special Moments- it was all gravy. These events are always so laid back and enjoyable....even if we are talking about waiting in line all morning and all day at Winter Solstice! Hahaha!

Service - Thought it was one of the better if not the best service ive had at a solstice party (went Friday)..everything was smooth.

Beer - The biggest improvement to me was putting everything on tap at 4pm...No dumb timed releases..To me, this made the whole day! As far as the beer itself, what can you say..Look at what you had on top..That = AWESOME!

Comedy - Thought that was cool..Different for you guys..Could take or leave it though...

Misc: What made the day even better was Frank had my wifes fav drink, Cherry Spiced Wine...She was pretty excited about that and made my stay longer, lol!

All in all a total success for me..A lot was based off of putting everything on tap at 4pm...

Was there on Friday, we got there at noon.

Service was great both inside at at the tent. A lot better than last year's solstice.

Beer was amazing. If you saw the list on Friday, you know this already. I talked to Todd for a while, and he gave me a sip of his BB4D/Raspberry Eisbock blend, so a+++ for that. The one thing I'd say here is we liked last year a bit better when all the good stuff was on tap right at open vs waiting for the tent to open. We'll adjust our plans next year to not get there so early.

A guy in our group who is not so familiar with what Kuhnhenns does ended up puking in a bucket outside. But, you guys didn't actually throw him out of the area, you let him sit there and drink water while we waited for our ride. Found that to be cool.

Great time, I look forward to the solstice festivals every year (for the party, I'm not too concerned with the bottle releases)

Thought the Summer Solstice went superbly! The tap list on Friday was world class, and I really liked how it was all just put on at the same time early in the day. Spent most of the evening with friends and everyone had a blast- crowded, but not crazy! The bottle release on Saturday was easy and smooth (although I do enjoy the selection of Winter Solstice despite the long waits as orders and boxes are filled) and Solstice Stout is absolutely phenomenal- super complex with that "Kuhnhenn barrel taste", easily one of my favorite new beers this year and something I would love to see again in the future! Only wished I could have stayed longer on Saturday, but from what I saw and sampled, the tap list was fun and inventive with a selection everyone could enjoy.

    Keep up the great work!

X a million on the Chocolate/coffee cherry stout. That was incredible and made being in line that much more enjoyable.

I went on Saturday & got there about 10:40am

Service- I never had a problem walking right up to the bar/taps and ordering what I wanted. Service inside was great as well, I spent a good portion of the day sitting at the bar

Bottle Sales - I like the pre-packaged 4-pack idea. Other than not offering other items (meads & swag), I'm not sure that you could have sped it up anymore. I ordered a beer when I got inside the door & didn't get it until after I bought the bottles so I thing the line moved pretty well

Beer quality- My only complaint is that there wasn't some of the Fri night stuff put on Sat. I live in Kalamazoo but was working in Saginaw so driving down 1.5hrs on Fri night wouldn't have been safe or practical

Music- Unnecessary but it was fine

Special Moments- This was my 1st Solstice party & I know it's night/day difference from the Winter Solstice, from what I've heard, but it was very laid back & a lot of fun

Beer pre-package sales - perfect and always should be like that.

Comedy show - don't do it again, stick with live music or dj only.

And there is a guy rating solstice stout a 2.75. I don't get that. Are the bottles
Infected or something lol? On tap it was a 4.5-5 easily for me and everyone I was there with

Maybe there is a correlation between the puking and the rating?!?! :astonished::grinning:
