Hey everyone, I'm heading to Kzoo for the first time and GR for the 2nd time this August with my brother. We are driving on our way from NC to Wisconsin. Unfortunately only have one day/night to spend in the area. Last year we hit Bell's, Vivant, and Founders. This year we are looking at starting at 11am (Thursday) at Dark Horse, then possibly hitting Perrin, and maybe a brewery in Kzoo before heading to GR where we for sure will hit Vivant again for cans to go and later on that night hit the original HopCat.

I'm wondering what your input is on a 2nd Kzoo brewery out of the following list: Rupert's Brew House, Boatyard, Brite Eyes, One Well, Tibbs, Gonzo's Big Dogg, and Olde Penninsula???

Also for GR, I know BOBs and Grand Rapids Brewing are within walking distance from HopCat so was wondering thoughts on those places, or other GR breweries to hit. Yes, we will be packing a lot into just one day/night. Thanks in advance.

On the breweries in KZoo, Gonzo's had some pretty solid beers and a good looking taproom.

Another brewery to consider in KZoo is Acadia. I enjoyed Acadia the most after Bell's. Great food, I'm a big fan of their beers, and the open air atmosphere is really cool with a lot of outdoor seating.

    Enjoy!

What you don't want to do is go to Perrin right after Dark Horse because you're going to Grand Rapids, then back to Kzoo, then back to GR. I hope you just wrote that list out of the order you intended.

From your list of Kzoo 2nd choice breweries, I'll vote for Gonzo's Big Dogg. However, if you want to go slightly outside of your list (and 7-8 miles south of downtown Kzoo), I'll recommend Latitude 42 in Portage. Very good beers and food across the board.

If you are looking at GR Brewing vs. BOB's, I'd go for GR Brewing. BOB's was okay the only time that I've been there, but I've been to GR Brewing a few times and liked it better every time.

I don't know what everyone else's opinion is on Greyline in GR, but I was there last summer just after they opened and thought it was fantastic. It's dudes who used to be at Founders. Their tap room is small, pretty basic, but the beer was damn good.

One well seems to be second most recommended brewery in Kzoo at the moment (after bells). They have some interesting adjuncty beers and I was impressed.

I also agree that Greyline in GR is worth a stop. I've enjoyed all three of my visits there and will definitely go back.

CityBuilt and Greyline are a must. If you have time, Harmony Hall.

I would second one well for beers. Arcadia has killer BBQ

My two favorite breweries in the Kazoo area after Bell's would be very strong second with One Well, and even though it's a bit more out of the way, Latitude 42.

For Gr. Rapids if you are tight on time, skip Gr Rapids Brew and BOB. I would say Greyline and The Mitten Brew Co would be my next go to stops.
