I think they are pouring VIP all day. VIPS can do that area or the general stuff for the 1 hour unlimited.

I don't know how any one stayed till the end of the opening gala. I enjoyed the hell out of it, but man the sun did me in and after hours of drinking and still with a handful of tickets (half the booths didn't give a shit), I just went under a tree and relaxed some.

Some really great beers being poured.

About 90% of the booths didn't care for tickets. Was there 1-5 and the sun was beast on me. Solid beers by Figuora, Victory, Terruex, Three Weavers, and Cascade

What did everyone think of Noble's Mosaic Yum Yum? I think that had to have been my favorite beer of the day...though the heat could have played into that haha.

When I saw the open field I was a bit concerned that the heat would be too much, but I was able to find plenty of shade. In the end the heat didn't slow me down. Glad I had a hat though. And the shade in the VIP section helped.

    Highlights for me were:
Bravery - Brandy BA Batch #100 - Barleywine
Highland Park - Bonkers - IPA
Santa Monica Brew Works - PCH - Golden Milk Porter
Noble - Yum Yum - Imperial IPA
Phantom Carriage - Vermiste Kat - BA Sour ( Collaboration with Casscade )

I know BWBBq&B released the Cascade takeover lineup last week….but does anybody know what Cellarmaker (& the others) will be bringing to the Long Beach location on Weds the 26th? Nothing on their Facebook page yet.
Also has anybody here tried the Drakes/BW collab Pavel Czechop? Back a few years now the collab Mind Melder was mind blowing.

Mosaic Yum Yum will be on tap at Noble today at 4pm. Not sure what Cellarmaker Brewing is bringing yet but they'll be joined by The Rare Barrel, SARA, and Monkey Paw to name a few. ON tuesdays Cellarmaker will be brining out
Mocha and Cigarettes (coffee and cigarettes smoked coffee porter), Collab Brett IPA w/Highland Park, Mo' Passion (IPA w/mosaic and southern passion hops), DIPA - Dank Side of the Moon, Typo Pills (new world pilsner w/nz, german and slovenian hops) and Chardonnay Barrel Lost Wisdom (barrel aged saison w lacto and brett) so I will be assuming they'll be avail at BWBBQ as well

I left after just 2 hours of the gala, well I was helped away after 2 hours. The heat really got to me and I had a minor heat stroke. Ended up taking a face plant and my wife got me out of there. Spent the rest of the afternoon in an ice bath. The alcohol probably didn't help the situation any. I know for a fact I drank at least 32 oz of water in that time too, so I know hydration was definitely attempted.

I was not a fan of the area. Way too much open space, and not enough shade.

Wow, well glad to see you're still here with us by adding the post. The heat was definitely an issue with the mixture of many brew styles. Next I am brining an umbrella with a myst device of some sort lol

I loved the endless pours of system, infinite wishes and fundamental and other big stouts... but man, it was not the place for it in that heat.

My forehead is still throbbing in pain when ever I raise my eyebrows. Got to remember to bring sunscreen, but yeah, was not expecting that much open area.

Wow! Sorry to hear that @Alpha309 . I'm glad you are OK. Heat stroke is no joke.

I guess I'm surprised I made out as well as I did. I did drink a good amount of water before the event, wore a hat, sun glasses, sunscreen and always parked myself in the shade.

That park sure gets a shit-ton of sun/heat. I remember when they used to hold the Grilled Cheese Invitational there and people would be dropping left and right (maybe the clogged arteries had something to do with it?). And that was held in April. Eventually they moved to a covered location. Maybe future LABW galas will do the same...

The Union Station gala two years ago was indoors. I was one of the few people that realty liked that venue.

Thanks guys. I did end up ok, so no worries.

I think they not only need to look at venues, but also maybe outside the afternoon sun. If the event was like 3PM to 8PM the trend would have been cooling down, but starting right at noon, just heats things up, and it ends up bad.
