I'm more looking forward to Power Plant. Didn't get to try it last time. Hoping to this time around (doesn't look like it will be at the fest but think it will be on at the brewery)

Yup, at the brewery on the 27th:

    Available in bottles.

I too missed it the last time and would like to give it a try.

That's what I was asking about earlier. I looked through them all and other than the 3-4 of them that are everyday I was interested in the 2 on Tuesday the 23rd. Beer Belly has sours from Almanac & The Bruery. And Bow & Truss in NOHO is doing a dessert pairing with Ballast Point. Grapefruit Sculpin & Sour Wench...mmmmm...

It's not a mind blowing list, but even I could tick a good number of beers.

I'm bummed because I'm going to be down in OC on Power Plant release day... hoping I can swing by on Sunday, maybe, if it's still on.

I'm *mostly* staying near the coast during the week, BUT:

    - Beer Belly x Modern Times Hangover Beer Brunch
    - Dogfishhead Study (just to swing by Library quick)
    - El Segundo tasting at BottleRock
    - Smog City Addition by Addition (at Library, too)

... Not the most exciting events on the list. But some of the more feasible ones to get to during the week (save the brunch on Sunday)

Anyone else remember that interactive map from last year outlining where everything was?

yeah, don't want to ruin UCLA's thread. was curious what other people thought were the stand outs. some are frustrating because they list a brewery take over or whatever, but don't have a list

thinking about the Modern Times Beer Belly brunch just because that sounds fun. Tuesday's at Tony's with Highland Park probably too, since I work like a 1/2 mile from there

Definitely, I wish they would bring back the map. It made it very easy to find events near where you are going to be. It was especially handy when new events got added to the list.

I'm not a big fan of the current layout with the paging list or the event calender. Let's hope they do a better job in running the opening event then they've done with their web site.

I'm going to the HPB event at Tony's on Tuesday, fo sho. I'm also going to hit up the Meeting of the Guilds, if it's not pure horrifying overcrowded insanity. Other than that, we'll see where the wind takes me.

Planning on staying away anywhere downtown LA and beyond. Some events sound and looks inviting, but with the traffic during the week, I think not. The furtherest I will go is to Long Beach for any type of beer week event. Maybe one day OC will get its due for it's very own beer week. Yea right. I'll be dead and gone to beer heaven when that happens.

Looks like I'm flying solo to this today. If anyone wants to meet up, I'll be wearing a green BW Melrose shirt and carrying a blue backpack full of water and pita bread for palate cleansing. Cheers!

I had a great time. I got in an hour early with the others who paid VIP prices (an extra $20). By the time they let everyone else in, I'd already tried most of the stuff I really really wanted to try so I was able to just relax and drink at a nice comfortable pace after that.

There was never more than one person in line in front of me except for when Smog City started pouring Goldie (a BBA golden strong ale) and Saison Contraire (a brett saison) but it went really, really fast (they had multiple people pouring from bombers). The lines for the bathrooms got crazy long about half way through the event, but thankfully I only had to go twice (and only on the second time was the line long).

It was hot that day but there was plenty of shade to be had so heat really wasn't an issue. Plenty of places to sit, too, if you wanted to. Multiple water stations--never had to wait in line for them. Four different food trucks--one had burgers, one hot dogs, another grilled cheese, and an Asian-food(?) truck (I got shrimp spring rolls from them and then egg rolls later on--good stuff).

Overall, big, BIG improvement over last year execution-wise. The beers seemed more exciting last year, but I was way more of a noob so it's hard to tell for sure.

I had a great time as well. I bought VIP tix because I had to leave early, so I was only there from 2 - 4. I have to admit I wasn't blown away by any of the beers I had, but I was trying very had to stick with the newer breweries I had never tried yet. However, King Harbor's 50 Cent Doesn't Know What A Grapefruit Is was extremely refreshing, if a bit uncomplex, and the Dude's Blood Orange would make a great breakfast beer, I think. It would be wonderful with some cold overnight chia oats. Yum. All in all, though, it was wonderful to see such a packed house, which speaks volumes for the L.A. beer community. I think the event was a huge success.
