I'm currently debating purchasing a set of 9 barrel-aged beers from La Calavera from Spain from an online shop, mostly Sours with 2 or 3 Stouts as well. While the set comes at a good price, it's not really cheap either and I don't wanna end up with a bunch of sub-par beers. They have very few ratings here and I don't trust untappd ratings when it comes to Sours especially, so does anyone know La Calavera well? Are they well-regarded for their BA/Sour beers? The beers in question are: Brett For Light, Growing Death, Bretternity, Tequila Sunrise, Valvu Line, Fruits of Doom, Fearless, Jellyfish, Blue Blood Fuck You!! @josanguapo
Hi Snowcrash000, Sorry for the delay, but I've been on holiday and I haven't been paying much attention to the forum. I don't have tasted any beer from "La Calavera", and I'm neither much a fan of sours, so I don't think I can't give you any good advice on this. I know they are considered here a good brewery of sours and I've checked some friends to see which ones have they rated. Many of them have no rates from my friends. The ones that have most rates are Fruits of Doom and Blue Blood Fuck You, and they have good ratings (>= 4) Regards. Jose Antonio.
Hello. I know La Calavera, mostly, for their stouts/Imperial stouts. I have not had any of their BA beers, but they are well regarded and respected here in Spain. I doubt their BA beers will be subpar.
Hello! I'm late too, but it's my first time in BA's forums. I tasted Blue Blood Fuck You and a couple of other sours, and they were very good. BBFY was amazing, the others not so good but top sours anyway. As a character insight, the profiles were always very acetic and solventy.
While I didn't purchase the set that this thread was all about in the end, I kinda regret that now, because I just had their Godless sour aged in red wine barrels and it was just excellent.
