I see nothing wrong with a good piece of Porterhouse steak going down with a fresh bottle of Elder. Everybody's taste is different. Screw what the experts say to pair this to that and you will get the ultimate craft orgasim. Eat, drink and be hoppy!

I just don't think many people know about it as a beer joint ... so maybe an "undiscovered gem" ... same owners as Iron Press so they definitely know what they are doing.

I'll be in the Culver City area Wed - Sun, visiting from Hawai'i. Any suggestions on where I should hit up? Mahalo!

Right where I live ... Fathers Office is always a solid tap list and good food (used to be the burger every time i went, now its the steak). WIldcraft on Wednesday has dollar oysters, good happy hour, and usually a good tap list. Public School has 3 dollar Firestone Luponic on happy hour Mon-Fri. Check out A Frame for brunch on Saturday or Sunday. AYCE pancakes for 15 bucks and some good beers on tap as well.

Can you name a specific combo you had in mind? That may help me understand better.

    meat + beer

to be honest I usually drink bourbon with steak. but that's probably because most places don't offer good beer. again, it doesn't make sense for a quality restaurant, in this day and age, to not offer some good beers. if they are putting effort into their wine list, why not put some effort into the beer list? if I sit down at a steak house (or any restaurant), when the waiter comes around chances are I'm in the mood for a beer for my first drink. why should I be subjected to Bud Light?

If i had to pick I'd say a triple would be a great choice with a steak. or a pilsner

at home i eat red meat with all kinds of beer, to delicious results. it's not that complicated

steak tacos with IPA thumbs up

$8 for a 5.5 oz pour of WootStout? They can fuck off. Even for Parabola that's expensive.

In Pacific City? Price is a little pricey. But a good selection of everything one is looking for.

I know they didn't make any 2017 sucaba, but has anyone seen any 2016 sucaba leftovers on the shelves? Outside of FW Venice? Long shot, but that stuff sits around....

They're in Pacific City on PCH with a Ocean-front view. I wouldn't expect warehouse in Anaheim pricing. I was there this weekend though and they had a good selection of $5 Modern times specials. Food was pretty good too but you're definitely paying for the view a bit, which I'm cool with.

Paying what amounts to $16 for a tulip of a big stout(that's not special) is not worth it to me. But...the thought of dealing with parking and all the brodawgs at Pacific City is enough to detour me as it is lol

Hmm. Maybe this is the reason why I haven't been back to PC since over a year ago. 16plus months. Over priced with a bunch of wannabees. Last visit there was just after Simmzys opened. Newest trend in HB and area.
I have a confession. I went to BP in Long Beach on Sat. Enough said.

Not trying to be overly critical here, but were there beers on the list with a better $/oz ratio? Because....that's another option.

I don't think you're being critical, yeah they have 13 and 16oz options(all at $8). But I still think $8 for a 13 ounce pour of Orderville is expensive. I don't really dig the concept of pricing things to minimize the necessary knowledge of your staff either.

My realistic other option is to spend my money elsewhere. I'll leave it for the tourists and drink Parabola at $9 for a 9oz pour 5 minutes away.

It may sound dumb, but it's totally a principle thing with me.

Pricing aside, and I've only been there during daylight hours, but I've noticed a dearth of big trucks and bros, and parking has always been extremely easy at Pacific City. Paying a premium for drinking/eating by the ocean is a negligible issue thing for some, and a deal breaker for others. The world keeps on spinnin'.
