Hey guys, I'm making a little LA to San Diego trip tuesday to thursday (7th to 9th) and am wondering everyone's suggestions on must visit breweries and/or bottle shops. I love big barrel aged beers and my buddy loves IPAs and sours, so we'll pretty much be seeking out any kind of good beer. Bottle Logic and Monkish are our first two thoughts, open to any and all others, thanks in advance! P.S. If anyone is interested in some Michigan stouts or brewery only Eclipse releases, PM me about an IP trade (check my gots and wants).
In Orange County, my "must" visits are Beachwood, Bruery, Noble, Bottle Logic & Pizza Port. If you are going to Monkish, you might as well hit Smog City as they are a few blocks apart. Highland Park is a gem but it's located clear across town from Monkish and with LA traffic could take you HOURS to get there. Firestone Barrelworks is an excellent LA option as well.
I don't know if it's just me, but man, traffic on the 5 has gotten worse and worse. Makes me almost not want to even bother trekking down to S.D. these days.
I use to love seeing Ave. Pico because I was only 45minutes from home...also the Denny's was a constant bladder relief spot from Barrelworks and OC brewery trips.
Anyone have tips on which brewery/breweries I would have the best luck finding one of their bigger rarer beers on tap? For example Alesmith pouring BASS or bottle logic pouring Darkstar November or similar?
Well right now Alesmith is pouring 2015 ba olde ale 2014 brandy old numbskull Port BA wee Heavy 2015 bass 2016 bass among others in their anvil & stave area.
Don't wear LA chargers gear. Toronado is a must stop. Society if you like iPas A pizzaport Walk around Norh Park 30th street tons of stuff there.
