None. For me it more depends on the brewery it's coming from.

Doesn't influence me at all . How ever one of my pet peeves is some of the names. Hell I can't pronounce half the beers I order so just go by the brewers name and style ( jj brewing red ale vs jj xztpstervwez.) or point to it on the menu. Wish they would use simpler names for us old farts.

It doesn't influence me in what I end up purchasing but some of the more flashier labels make me do a double take for curiosity, that and because I am a graphic design student I tend to look at all of them anyway because there are a lot of great artist/designers out there. I do know though that I've seen newer craft drinkers purchase based on labels and tap handles.

The label plays no part in me choosing a beer. The name on the label is the biggest factor.

I really just can't stand ridiculous, gimmicky names. Definitely a turn off. You shouldn't have to come up with a zany name to get someone to drink your beer. The brew should speak for itself. That said, I have tried a few of these silly names in the past, and some of them are not too bad.

I might be the biggest sucker in terms of labels and names. That's sort of how I pick my beers since I'm pretty much starting my journey of trying anything and everything. The good thing about it this way is I try many different breweries and many different kinds. My only real turn off is terrible fonts that I can't read or have a hard time reading. I forget the brewery in particular, but it has chicken scratch handwriting. I still haven't tried their beer because of it. Clown Shoes got me this way, but I actually enjoy their beer very much.

However, I am currently shifting my philosophy to trying beers from breweries I like.

Me no influence. People who are new to craft are probably susceptible.

I used to be more so than now...with so many new breweries and so many catchy, ironic and double entendre names, I've gotten away from it

If I go into a store with no set beer in mind and a label's attractiveness gets my attention, it may cause me to consider its purchase along with any other beers that I discover, but factors other than the label will make my decision to complete the sale.

It's a double-edged sword. Some art and labels will definitely catch my eye if I'm not going to the store for something specific. I've also started to collect the artwork from sixers of Short's.

On the other hand, I've stayed away from Rogue's pink bottle offerings just because there's noting appealing about a pink bottle. Maybe it reminds me of Pepto.

Yeah, I didn't even think about the "cool-looking" tap handles out there.

Thanks for all the posts, folks. It was just something I was thinking about after a beer run the other day. Some labels are so wild and crazy and some names are quite catchy and clever. On the other hand some (like Dogfish Head for example) are more interested in a common label style that simply tells you exactly what it is that's in the bottle. I like a good does of cleverness in name or a label that gets your attention. But I admit I've been burned quite a few times.

Yea my favorite tap house in my old city changed all their handles because they were running out of space to hold them all and because they were having to many people order based on how appealing the handle was. They offered samples there but when it got busy in there people would just pick one and then have a drink and come back saying they didn't like that beer.

Most surefire bet is if there is an old man on the label art, it's usually a good beer.

I think it's funny how two hearted is so good and the label is so boring. Like, ultimate boring compared to other iPas. But, it's so good dosent need a label to draw you in. Just funny to me, because I never would have tried it by seeing it on the shelf

I have always tried to base my purchase on the quality of the product, rather then the exterior design of the vessel. I do love The Lost Abbey, and their artistic bottle work, it's pretty amazing.
