Hey everyone, just wondering what you guys think about this. I typically don't buy lagers at all. It just seems the flavor falls flat to me for some reason. I've tried IPLs, Vienna, Oktoberfest, Pilsner, all of them, just ok; but with some sort of sweeter food it seems to kind of enhance the experience. Does anyone else feel this way or am I alone on this?

..Did you dive into the wonderfull world of darker and maybe stronger lagers? A not too cloying dark Bock may go very well with sweet food, as well as stronger Dunkel. And don't forgett about the sweeter, weaker dark czech lagers.... There are many good choices out there.

I tend to go for more of a contrast. When I get Mexican food I usually get it spiced to hell and back, extra jalapeno's etc.. So I tend to search out places that have Negra Modelo, as I find it is the perfect beer to go with spicy food. Which Mexican food and chips and salsa, I am a happy man when I have a NM in my hand.

Ayinger Celebrator has sort of a fruit cake thing going on, along with some residual sweetness, so that should work well. Also, the Kulmbacher Eisbock has similar flavors and is stronger.

Northcoast Scrimshaw with a plate of cookies.

Better yet, a coffee porter with chocolate cake!

Try a Schwarzbier... like a nice pot of simple good coffee to go with your dessert
