Well- jamvt was entirely correct, and my skepticism was unfounded. Little local podunk place had it, and they have actually upped their craft selection. They also upped the price- F'ing $12 for a 6pack.

Nice that I found out within an hour of said purchase that Julios got more in today. Likely at a more reasonable price.

Oh well, at least I get to check it out.

Hopefully with Lagunitas' new brewery in Chicago we will be seeing more 12-packs & cheaper prices....fresher product too.

Anyone had Walden? Same concept and was super thin and watery. I've made low abv pale ales hopped like IPAs/DIPAs and they were watery. Not surprising to me but I guess it's misleading because of the nose. You can say it's not big in the flavor department but it's executed well for what it is, IMO.

I enjoyed this ipa! It was def easy to throw down the whole six pack. It was a nice session beer! I'm looking forward to sucks holiday ale again!

Although I haven't seen prices anywhere else, I was going on the assumption that this store had slightly overpriced the 6pack of Daytime.

At least I'm hoping $12 isn't the "standard" price for this one...

Chilled bottles, cracked one open. Tried and true Lagunitas fan.

Not sold on Daytime. Gotta agree with Jnorton. Nothing wrong with it, but also pretty unremarkable. I'm certainly happy drinking it, but wouldn't go out of my way for more.

And while I've only sampled Walden once, if memory serves, I'd take that over this brew anyday.

    /shrug.

This beer most likely uses more hops than their IPA, and hops are more expensive than grain. Just throwin' that out there. I don't mind the ~$11-12 price, but I don't really find this beer thin or watery.

I think I paid ~ $11 for daytime. Don't mind paying that for a FRESH quality IPA - like FW Union Jack was earlier this year, and sometimes coming across Racer 5 that isn't 4+ months old.

That said, I enjoyed Daytime quite a bit. Nice aromatic golden IPA. I'd buy it consistently if I could find it with a decent date.

Agreed. Walden was slightly better but not by much. Still tasted like hop water to me, like daytime. If you are expecting something remarkable from a beer advertised as a session ale then I don't know what to tell you. It's not meant to blow your mind. Although I didnt go out of my way for a 6pak when I bought it a couple weeks ago.

I'd say almost all the Notch beers are remarkable and have a good deal of flavor. The Saison especially.

The idea that a low abv beer can't have lots of flavor is a fallacy. And Daytime... given Lagunitas and what they usually can manage with hoppy brews, I expected a good bit more from this one.

Just had this for the first time last night. I was impressed. This style of beer, a lower gravity IPA/APA has been a quest for both homebrewers and commercial brewers for a while now. I liked the hop flavor of the Daytime, citrusy, sweet smelling. Fairly dry with a little malt sweetness. A solid effort at this style. I have not tried the all day IPA yet for comparison but I look forward to it. IMO New Belgiums Dig is the best of this style, however it is about 1% higher ABV than Daytime. Cheers.

Not saying a session beer can't have full flavor but I just don't expect to feel like I'm drinking a DIPA with this beer. I don't think it's meant to be anything that you sit down and analyze (yes I know I did review it on here; I was bored lol). It's a quick hop fix that doesn't give you a buzz.

Anyone else notice the six pack holder says 4.9% abv, and the bottle says 4.65% abv?

Not a bad beer, but leaves something to be desired. I started brewing session IPA's a few years ago and have found that about 30% Munich(German) gives a much better malt profile. Most versions are really lacking in maltiness.

People who like this sort of thing may want to give Uinta Wyld a shot. If memory serves it's perhaps a bit more watery but flavorful at 4% abv.

At first I was critical of the these smaller beers' lack of heft but I've since come to find myself in the mood for that aspect sometimes, especially in tandem with an abv that keeps me out of the ball pit at Chuck E. Cheese.

If you go into it expecting the flavor of a DIPA, or even a regular IPA, you'll be disappointed. I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure if it'll be a regular purchase. It doesn't appear breweries have quite figured out how to make a full flavored IPA at <5% abv. And it may never happen. Perhaps it's just a style that should be in the 7 to 8% abv range to attain it's full potential. If you want something more complex at a low abv seek out bitters, Irish dry stouts, and milds (if you can find them).

That being said, Haverhill Leatherlips IPA at 5% abv has been crushing it for years....

I got some friday and I think it drinks better out of the bottle then in a glass if that makes any sense.
