I bought 2 6 packs on Friday afternoon; I drank 8 of them total this weekend, killer beer! Mine are very clear and no haze at all.

This the first time I have heard about Born Again Yesterday.

There is information on the Lagunitas website including a video discussion: https://lagunitas.com/beers/bornagainyesterday#

They do not specifically detail how they ‘stored’ the wet (fresh) hops for later brewing.

Have you had this beer? If so, how similar was spring brewed Born Again Yesterday to present day Born Again?

I am curious to hear how well the Lagunitas ‘storing’ process worked.

    Cheers!

Last spring (April-May) Lagunitas brewed a beer using 'stored' wet hops. They called this beer Born Again Yesterday. I have never heard about this specific beer until today.

There is a link above in my other post where you can learn more; watch the video.

    Cheers!

I remember thinking Born Again Yesterday was pretty great, but it's hard to say how it compares to "the real thing" without having them side by side, or at least, less than several months apart (I had BAY in sometime in June or July).

I've never heard of any of these beers before i saw the thread. Those great NE IPAs are brewed year round, they're a tight distro area the stuff is fresh. So obviously it can be done without fresh hops or wet hops, pellets or oil. And it's probably a nightmare to do this , it's a step up from Stone Enjoy By, but I'd like to see other Brewers do this, I'd like to see Lagunitas do this quarterly and in cans would be ideal. The most important point is that it's a great beer made better by the rapid distro. I've had lousy fresh beers as well so both parts are important.

On draught in NC and definitely in the hazy and mildly turbid category.

I tried both, and while I very much enjoyed Born Again Yesterday, it was not on the same level as last year's Born Yesterday. Last year's batch was very floral and Mosaic forward (if memory serves). The Born Again lost some of that in my opinion. Maybe they'll work it out the kinks this year. I'm also still undecided as to which batch I like more - 2015 or 2016. Both are pretty outstanding. I have the hazy version. Is it just me or are the hazy ones hard on your stomach?

FWIW I have not experienced any stomach issues with Born Yesterday and I am predisposed in that area (I do not drink too many of my homebrewed beers at one sitting since they contain live yeast).

    Cheers!

Funny how they keep calling this one a pale ale. Certainly the category encompasses many things--PA/IPA/DIPA-- but this one has ranged from high sixes to 7.5%.

    IPA all the way.

Love it regardless of what it is called. Best one this year by them.

I guess we got the hazy stuff in Michigan. What a fantastic beer.

Speaking as a west coaster homer, I find it a little wrong to even suggest a fresh hopped PA/IPA from out here be considered a NE IPA. I mean, even with its (varying degrees of) haziness and mouth feel and less prominent bitterness, this beer's defining characteristic is its use of fresh hops. If I'm not mistaken, that is not the case for beers from New England.

This is not to say that fresh hop beers are exclusive to the west coast (or really, the PNW), but rather to point out that the similarities between Born Yesterday and NE IPAs are outweighed by one very important difference in ingredients....IMO.

Well, they definitely don't look similar...

A few similar flavors but I get the fresh raw onion in Born Again and it isn't present in Jai Alai. This is my favorite Lagunitas beer to date.

I find it very surprising how many folks can remember this amount of nuance on limited releases 6 and 12 mos apart. I remember liking the BAY and BY.

Love it for what it is--bright, pungent. This falls did not disappoint.

Look forward to it coming around next year.
